Only downside of a hydraulic switch is they need a certain pressure to operate, I have one on my 916 front brake and under gentle braking it doesn't always activate or activates later than ideal.
That said my Monster rear brake has a pressure switch brake light but I don't do a lot of rear braking and would mostly have the fronts on aswell if I was so not really an issue for me.
