Yeh, Rotties can be very lovely dogs but too many get misused as your describe.

Weimaraners can be very engaging dogs and full of character.

You may want to think carefully about golden retrievers though - I have seen too many of them rolling around in very muddy puddles at the first opportunity.!!!!
