Surging, hunting tickover on I.E.'s

I just got the variable tickover / surging problem checked out by Pro Twins, turned out to be corroded terminals on the oil temp sensor (just behind the front pot). The ECU did not know what the engine temp was, so dodgy fueling resulted. A new sensor and plug cured the problem.

I would recommend a squirt of WD40 now and again to keep the contacts good, the sensor's don't normally have any problems apparently.
