Just had my S4R in for it's first service. Not only is the Service Centre Manager, William courteous over the phone but the cost came in at 193 quid. Not bad eh?

£193

Not a bad price for an oil & filter change + 36 cups of tea (in Ducati corsa mugs) for the mechanics

Better start saving for the 6K service, and enquire about a second mortgage for the full 12K jobbie methinks? ;)

I should have said "... comparatively speaking"!!

And I just paid that for a car's full service (and I mean full in the old fashioned sense of properly done..) and cambelt change!

Us? Ripped off?? Never...

I had mine done earlier in the year @ DLS, it was around £300, from memory.

i just had my 2nd service...1 year...at DLS. i gave them some crash protectors and a bellypan to fit for me while they were at it. total cost of 450 quid. not cheap by any means.

I read recently that obligatory servicing by (rip orf) official dealers is no longer necessary with cars. bikes should now be that way too arent they?

yep until u need some warranty work and then they feck u in the eye. slightly off topic but I recently sent a lovely letter to the MD at ducati uk praising the service that i had received from ducati insurance. a gem of words and i expect in today's day and age pretty damn unusual. I got no response at all. for an "italian"ish company they really do seem to be a pretty horrible bunch. monti from maranelllo is lovely in comparison.

isnt it they TRY to feck the eyeballs but they have no legal feet?

well that is reasurring, no way I could pull off a rescue mission for atleast an hour. slightly incompasitated from a weekend combo of carbonazza, lotus tea and seven bags of snow whites dwarves. tomorrow we have ducks, cravats and champagne kellogs.

If you could fashion a wirey bearded one we could have an ebay scenario on our platters that would put even the dead sea scrolls to shame. get carving.

sounds like one of those million dollar plans. stetsons, revolving drink cabinets, nympet eye balls all around and a fish tank made of seaweed. lets do it. it could be the break we have been waiting for. notepad and beady eye at the ready.

A Yerbury
06-12-2004, 07:39 PM
it's that level of enthusaism so lacking in the young of today. I do have a spare stetson - it may need steaming - but its the real bear fur deal. texan, natch..

Richard_S
06-12-2004, 07:43 PM
dig it out the more the merrier

A Yerbury
06-12-2004, 07:48 PM
I shall, although the stetson is a sombre head piece, for merriment you need the full on ten gallon affair. no one really took J R seriously did they?

what is the purpose of this mission btw? is this dermist tweaking some pelts? shame you cant blag a flash motor, we'll just have to approach this in a mittyesque fashion..again. Bagsie I'm thelma this time. Bloody magical realism.

you could upgrade with some "sabre teeth"??? how the 8 year old Yerbury lamented that beasts demise.

there is a very fine line between the techniques of our aborigine colleagues and a full on skirmish involving the iguana that’s perched in his "workshop".

i take my chances flying by the skin of my pants...only one bad dream involving demonic monkeys coming to rep their revenge. not a bad record for a connoisseur of all things obscure with vague tendencies to scream

Laura dern whilst auditioning for the role paid a visit to David Lynches house to discuss Blue Velvet, in his fridge amongst the usual fare of cheese, veg (do I need to list the average contents of a fridge?!) any ways, amongst these mundane items were bits of disected mice and other small animals, he casuallly refered to them as "just some of his kits" . what a marvelous chap.

a moment of clarity and a lesson to us all.
