daytona's very good cos leather - goretex too, perfect for amount miles I do and best thing.. they're resole able... i've had mine 3 years, and only cos 58 quid to get them re-soled and re-goretex them at same time, so cheaper than new pair of very very very comfy boots, suitable for riding and walking in them.!

Some people don't think they look trendy enough tho, :(

engineers boots with steel toes, about 95 quid from hein gericke and look classic as opposed to the power ranger option........

I bought a pair of Alpinestars S-MX3 Gore-Tex the other day. They're great and much more snug up the calf than the Sidi's they replace, and vented without letting water in (so far!). Cost about 150 quid I think.

A Yerbury - interesting that you wear steel toecaps. Have you missed the reports where leg impacts have been known to bend the riders' toes upwards, and the steel caps have sliced the toes right off? I'd go for broken toes/tendon damage over totally detachment any day!! :)

- I agree, steel toe caps are not a good idea whilst riding a bike!

sometimes you just have to be a man....I mean who wants a life without any danger?

wear what you like and let the chips, or toes, fall where they may.

I for one like to live as an adult. Lid-less, toe less, helpless. Tis all down to me :)

btw I rate my Sidi's very highly.

As the man in the shop said, dont try them on unless your prepared to spend the cash.

Heine Gerrrrricke Tuareg or summit like that. Absolutely f'in marvellous, and comfy to boot (sorry) with a uber-cool tread pattern on the sole. Totally waterproof too.

I bought Sidi Black Rain thingybobs.....probably because the dealer saw me coming, but they also looked nice! And I have to say I have found them to be very comfortable (£120 I think they were) even with my slightly deformed wider than normal feet.....and after falling off last weekend they aren't even scuffed........which probably explains the big scratches down the side of my helmet......crash helmet that is

Sidi Vert 2 - very comfortable but a little squeaky when you walk. They've just launched the replacements whick also look good. They have nice toe sliders which can be used to add racing stripes to the tin tops when they get a little too close.....

And they don't look like wellie boots :D

I paid £125 for mine but I did twist the dealers arm.....

Altberg. Combat style, total comfort, walk all day in them, never let a drop of water in, and can be resoled or refurbished by the manufacturers when they're worn out, lifetime guarantee, a quality british product. There's a good reason couriers / police etc use them. And they're cheaper than power ranger boots too - £80 - £120 a pair ....

A pair of plain black Dainesse with Carbon ankle and shin guards. I think i paid £100 3 years ago. Lovely boot and quite comfortable, although i think there are probably more comfortable out there now. I wanted a pair of Alpinestars GP Pros before i bought the ones i have. At the time there was this thing that you couldnt just buy Alpinestars from anyone, and were almost 'specialist'. Is this still the case? I have also been told their very overated and 'not as good as they used to be'

SIDI Vert, wouldn't get them again as i think there is now better out there for protection and comfort. They are well broken in but when i had to walk a couple of miles in them they were most uncomfortable.
I appreciate that they are designed for riding and not walking but that has put me off replacing them with the same again. Still they are not bad and i will use them until i need to replace them.

My 2p.

Daytona. vs. White Van.

just some bruising to my ego !

3 years - cool in summer, warm in winter. What more do you want ?

Cheap ? if you do cheap then go elsewhere. If you want quality an performance then these should do.

Now, don't laugh, but I've just got a pair of Akito Hi-Octane(!) boots.
£40, light, comfy, seem pretty well put together, look ok too  ... alright really if you don't need the "label factor"?

i just got myself some Sidi Verterbra race carbons, look very smart indeed and feel very tough.

only problem is so far i've just been wearing trainers and find it hard with these proper boots to change gears, and feels odd and i cant feel the pegs brake gear lever etc as well as i could with my trainers. upshifts are harder cos the boot is chunkier and takes some manuoevring to get under the gear lever.

is this something that improves with time, as the boots are broken in? or is it just matter of working round the problem?

i find the exact opposite. my feet are a lot happier ith boots as opposed to my rude boy sneaks. they get some getting used to but far better, more definitive changes and a solid foot feeling. for the first three months i rode i hated them but now given the choice take em every time. if you really want to scare urself try with open toe sandles. painful without socks but depends on how cool ur aiming to be (i lost a bet in the cap d'age nudist resort in the summer and got the short straw. hemet, sandles and nothing else except a breeze through all available orrifices)

you may want to adjust the control's
boots being thicker than trainers
i have 'problems ' when i swap boots thin summer boots vs track day boots i end up missing loads of gears, how embaresing

I wear Sidi Vertebra, they squeak like buggery so try and keep them oiled. Ooo yes, they let the wet in through the velcro and zip, saying that though, I do wear them nearly every day so they take a battering. I am kind of fond of them. :D

The old man wears the Sidi Courier (motocross style) and he reckons they are the best ever boots he has ever had. He rides every day to work and was an ex courier. Explains a lot then!

Depends on the time of year...

If its wet and cold and I'm wearing my leather jeans, then I have a pair of high leg Belstaff boots (Which becase they are bulky I wear over the leathers). Comfortable for all day (on and off the bike), and 98% waterproof.

If its hot and dry then I've got a pair of Hien Gerrick PSX-T2 (I think) ankle boots, which look great under the Hood jeans I wear. Although suede on the outside, have been 100% waterproof to date - and that's through all day rain :)

I have on occasion used:
Steel toecap site boots (Yeah I know),
Army issue high ankle desert boots (tough, but cool - get cold feet in high summer! )
Army issue black leather boots - when I used to commute on the Bandit. Practical as I could wear tham all day, and no steel toecap worry ;)
