when I get around to it...the seals are getting done, any advice on oil type and level, after a bit of real world advice as opposed to haynes/factory guide.
thanks.
Alex.

Nice haircut... send a message to Dave Woods Racing. He may not be a fork specialist, but he has setup many a duke fork for us lot. I just used the standard grade of oil and it seems fine. I think it is slightly heavier wieght to make them a bit firmer on the damping, and less for lighter. Level is an odd thing, as the Haynes book recommended more oil to firm too. Mine was overfilled when the correct level was used and was firm to solid. Dave had measured the height on a correctly setup fork while it was in the bike with the sliders all the way down, if you get my drift. Beware that if you undo the top caps on the forks while on the side stand with the fork insitu, the bike will suddenly drop as the sliders drop and will fall over to the right. Get a grown up to help and be ready to catch it. It is also advisable to take the weight off the front end (balance on the stand) while doing them up too.

FORK TIPS PLZ

Hold between thumb and forefinger of left hand. They usually work better if you have a knife in your right hand.
Hope that helps :)
