I have a new exhaust for Gill's bike and intend to fit it today.
Now it is a full system and one of these exhausts that slip together and then held together with springs rather than clamps.
I have never fitted an exhaust like this before and was wondering if you need any jointing compound at each joint or is it designed to be able to expand and contract hence the springs.
I usually use silicone sealant to seal exhausts.
Has anybody got a system like this or know how it should be assembled?

As usual any help is appreciated.

Norrie.

my Leo Vince cans and link pipes are held with springs and needed no sealant.

My previous bike was a Triumph Daytona and the exhaust on that was held by springs. Very handy at MOT time as no sealant was involved so you only had to do a quick swap for the test without any messing about.
