General consensus is that Mivv offers a valid product at an affordable price.

Depends on how you want your bike to evolve. A few pointers:

1. Brands? Sil-motor and termignoni are the obvious choices as well as other makes. It depends on how much of a label snob you are ;) . I heard that a lot of the termi pipes are made by Remus so tou may sometimes be paying for the name.

2. Carbon, steel or titanium? Personally, carbon for me - especially with the high pipes so that it doesn't cook your passengers too much. It stays much cooler than the others. I really don't know the benefits of titanium but am sure others will enlighten you.

3. High pipes or low? High pipes look cooler (imho) and increase ground clearance which then means the pegs are the next things to grind out which in turn means new rearsets and more expense. Low pipes - same as standard - just more noise.

4. Road legal, race or removeable baffles for those 'mad' moments. Pipes nowadays seem to have removeable baffles so you can easily change from road legal to race versions. Some customise theirs so it becomes a halfway house.

5. Customise your own. Some prefer the shorter look of pipes so cut them down by removing the rivets, cutting the pipes and rerivetting. Have no experience myself but I understand its a pretty easy job - only for carbon pipes though.

6. Rejetting or altering your fuel maps - dynojet, power commander or ducati chip. Had 2 sets of aftermarket pipes on my bikes and never felt it I was missing anything. Then again, unless I had something to compare it to I didn't put this down as a priority.

7. Other points: tail chops, bug eye indicators, passenger provisions etc. High pipes can sometimes look odd unless you chop the tail off but many have done so but it is a very personal thing.

The first thing people ask about the high pipes is whether it burns the passengers feet. Absolutely not - assuming they are wearing boots of some kind. Just sit on the bike or put your boot on the passenger peg and you'll see it's not a problem at all.

Anyway, hope this helps and you release the noise pretty soon.

Best regards

remus make the ducati performance one's and sound a lot like sils (I have both) carbon is a lot lighter and a doddle to keep clean so no polishing! titaniums light and strong plus it changes colour as it heats up (whoopee) viper and scorpion are a bit budget compared to micron, akropovic, remus, sil etc but they may well be good cans, Ive never had a close look at a pair.

Never seen Mivv cans for a Monster so can't comment.

If you're looking for a deal try Busters Mail Order - just got a set of Road Legal (but still sound pukka) Leo Vince Carbon cans for £300 - great quality too.

Hi

Just fitted my MiVV high pipes last weekend. Went on easy, look neat, sound good (considering that they're legal, as Swiss plod are clamping down at the moment  ). Also relatively cheap, so good value imho.

The only thing I'd say is that they mount off the standard passenger pegs, so if you're planning to go monoposto (as I am) you'd need to fab up a bracket to mount them from under the seat frame.

Cheers all

I've got a pair of Remus low levels in,er titanium I think, I agree with Celt they sound fantastic. Sils look bloody lovely and if I go for the high set they're the ones.
