Tank Protector

Hello All,

Sorry in advance for this complete newbie question.........

Where on the tank does a tank protector need to be?

Should it start where the tank meets the seat to protect where your jeans will rub or should it be further up tank to stop you jacket rubbing?

anywhere where the sharp but on your clothing will rub
like zips n chain mail n stuff
id possibly go for higher bacause your 'supposed' to leave a bit of a gap between your balls and the tank which is just about impossible with a pillion mind so perhaps where the seat meets hummm i dunt know whatever looks good
ive put one on upside down once cos it covered more scratches that way and didnt look bad in my opinion but everyone knew id put it on upsidedown ~:)
