Rear Wheel Query

OK, rear wheel just rebuilt, and when replacing it I noticed that there is a gap 3-4mm between the sprocket carrier and the wheel face. Even tho logic dictates that as everything went in in the same order it came out, I just like worrying. So can anybody who knows reassure me and anybody who has a pre 2000 Monster nip and have a look and see if this is correct or come back and tell me to take it apart again as it should be a closer fit.

There is a visible gap on mine too - the distance piece in the centre of the carrier butts against the wheel bearing before it goes completely flush.
