How do I polish me bottoms ?

Fork Bottoms that is...they starting to annoy me now cos they a bit chipped and the paints coming off.
Anyone got a step by step guide ?

I'm thinking of similar over winter, only I want to do the whole leg BLACK :twisted: So I'll be interested to know also.
Oh and the top bits I know are Ali, but what are the bottoms made of?

Paint stripper first, then something like 240 grit wet&dry to smooth out the rough casting, then 320, then 400, then 600, 800, 1200, 2000 then polish :eek:
Or you could just let www.jppolishing.co.uk do them for a better job and a lot less hassle ;) :D

To repaint, stripper, 2Pack(2K) aluminium etch primer, 2K High build primer, 2 coats (rub down between), base coat silver or black or whatever, 2K Laquer 2-3 coats, then they will look like this:
