Hi Stevej,Pedro and everyone who is interested. What I have been thinking is perhaps if someone can get the measurements for the bolts that are used with low level cans (as they are shorter) then I can approach this guy and see if he will do all the different sizes on perhaps the same deal (minimun order 100). Then we can go from there and he says they can be whatever grade we decide. I'm easy I will go with whatever anybody wants or whatever this guy recommends.

I would take a set for the standard M900 setup. I have used Inox for most of the stainless fasteners on the bike and have found both the product and service first class.

Hi there again Pedro, just a quick question, are your exhausts high or low level?

Low level Leo Vinces

There are two types of bolt, 8 off in all, 4 of each (I think!!!)

The lower two on each side (well side stand mounting ones) are bigger thread. I'll pull one of each out tomorrow and check

Hi Pedro, David T, and Kev Bunney, What grade of stainless does everybody wantto go for, I'm easy, I will go with the flow.

Not much of an expert on the different grades to be honest, but I suppose the simlpest answer would be the best grade ;)

Pedro

Right then, I pulled out the bolts and drew them up as promised but....

There seems to be three differet types. The top ones are all the same but the lower ones are longer on the lhs so they hold the side stand.

Steve K - pm me your email and I'll send the drawings over.

Hi Pedro, after reading your email I thought I better check the lower bolts.
You are right there are two different sizes. I guess like you say to do with the side stand. So that would make three different sizes for low and high level.
So what I tried was, I took all four lower level bolts out and found out what was the longest bolt (which was 39mm of thread on the M10 size) was and then screwed that into where the shortest bolt went and it fitted fine as I guess the thread depths in the engine are all the same. So cool if we go for the larger length in low level and high level exhausts, we are back down two sizes again per bike. Also did you check the gear lever bolt? As I also spotted there is one of the same design on the brake lever but it is fitted in reverse, so you don't see the head perhaps we can sort that one out later when we have sorted this lot.
When you done all the drawings and measurements can you send me a copy also can you change my measurement on my drawing from 34mm to 39mm on th M10 size please.
Now have 6 sets requested for low level and 2 sets for high level.
When all the measurements are done we should see if there are anymore sizes that we can use one length for, it would cut down the amount of orders we need.
thanks again Pedro.

Hi Pedro, my email address is bown.newmilton@virgin.net
keep them rolling guys, we have seven sets of low level and 2 sets of high level.
In reply to your question Madhatter, if we can get an order of 100 per size bolt they will be £4.50 each.

Yup, put me down too, as Pedro points out the nearside lowers are longer. Best material would be 304 (A2) this is the better grade for machining.

Sean

You done the drawings Pedro?

Pedro

Okey dokey!

Just emailed Autocad files to Steve so I'll convert them at work tomorrow.

a quick note and an "idiots guide to monster foot rest hangers" as we now know that the side stand is part of the left side set up -ouch- ditto jen/queen g and sm! on the right one of the bolts attaches the engine earth to the frame! tricky to spot and easy to tear the bolt (Im sure u all knew this anyways!)
