Belgom Alu is the best polish I have found, seems to keep the worst of the water marks at bay.
If you are just using Solvol or something then you need to use a good wax over the top afterwards, autoglym is pretty good.

I wash my stainless ones in warm soapy water, dry off with old rag, then spray with Mr Sheen occasionally:D they have done over 15,000 miles in 2 years on both my bikes, and no marks.
Mind you, MHP got rid of the nasty banana shape in the r/h one that AK put there earlier this year during a moments inattention......
Dont go to carbon - get stainless! ;)

if they are Alloy..and you can justify the cost get a clear anodise....or anodise any colour..(gold is nice)...just a soft cloth and Mr Sheen does the trick...

I've got titanium Remus, the water marks are a bloody nightmare. This clear anodise sounds good, what is it?

A quick wipe with a cloth sprayed with WD40 after washing the bike works ok too.
