-this only applies to carbs methinks- one more factor in the old neutral/side stand it wont start etc is this, have twice recently ran out of fuel 100 yards or so from stations and sort of spluttered in. 11 quids, full up a minute later... but nothing power wise. just the starter motor. mine seems to get an air bubble in the pump and today a blast of wd into the trumpets helped it along nicely. is this peculiar to most bikes of this design or just mine?

Tip number one, don't run out of petrol :D

tip number two, a drip and smear of petrol in the trumpets does just the same job. Like danglin a carrot in front of a donkey.

AHA! Just another thing to add to my symptoms solved list! When mine died recently the first thing I did was fill er up because the best case scenario was a faulty fuel light (and a crap owner who waits to be told to fill it). Long story elsewhere, but not starting on an empty tank fits nicely. Cheers.

Pardon my complete lack of mechanical knowledge and terminology, but when you say the trumpets.....
