Temp Indicator blinking dashes '---'

Hello from Greece!!!

Well, I ve got a M620ie, 2003. In the past month the digital temperature indicator rarelly shows the temperature; instead it displays 3 dashes: '---'. Sometimes blinking, sometimes not.

The problem is not permanent, the temp appears sometimes. My best guess is that the sensor has somehow been displaced but I have no idea where it is to check it.

I have checked the manual but it does not state anything about '---'.

Any ideas?

Check for a bad connection where the cable connects to the sender on the right hand side engine casing, near your oil sight glass.


Pens sender got totaled by a bit of road debris, and had ---- instead of numbers.

Mine did exactly the same after the first service. The dealer hadnt re-co0nnected the little spade connector correctly! Pulled the rubber boot off, pushed the spade connector back on - problem solved.
