bled the clutch fluid ? mine is feeling soft and gear changing is a bit moe 'clunky' than usual, does the cover have to come off and the piston clamped in as with the brakes?

Depends on the bike I think.

My M900 has the cylinder on the LHS but others (600/750???) has it under the case on the RHS.

If it's like mine, it's a piece of cake just time consuming, dunno about the others....

Have you tried inspecting the oil level in your resvoir, try just topping it up before you go into open clutch surgery, and put loads of rags about the place for spillage drips sneezing etc, also the top cover has a expandable rubber, make sure it is pushed in on itself before putting the cover back on.
