So, finally get my new rear sets fitted and find I need a longer bit of hose to connect the rear brake master cylinder to the reservoir, trot off to local Ducati dealer and ask for 30cm long bit of rubber hose.

them - " Sorry sir, we only have the genuine Ducati part so it will be same length"

Me - "OK, give me any small bore diameter rubber hose, petrol, whatever"

them - "sorry sir, can't do that, we can't guarantee its suitable for brake fluid so can't sell you it, if it rots, causes an accident you could blame us"javascript:smilie('')

<SFX> sound of customer leaving quickly swearing loudly

WTF is it coming to when you can't even by rubber hose??

Anyway, does anyone know where I can find a suitable rubber hose to mount my brake reservoir or will any rubber hose be OK??

TIA

Gizmo

HOSES (http://www.thinkauto.com/acatalog/Price_List_Special_purpose_hoses_88.html)

I was looking to buy a longer length of hose for the rear brake on my NC30. I emailed David Silver Spares who supply Honda parts and asked for a price along with some other stuff.

They emailed me back with a quote for £54+VAT

YES you did read that right....nearly £60 for a bit of brake hose!!

OUTRAGEOUS!!!!

Thanks, Celeste will check it out as yellow pages has only one hose supplier listed so will probably order from web.
I ended up consoling myself in the same dealers Dainese Store where a small bit of rubber hose ended up costing me rather a lot as I came home with new pair of leathers, glad missus is away tonight not sure how I'm going to explain this one ,a £54 repair bill for a hose might have been do-able :).

They did try and help me, suggesting I go a dealer over the road who made up brake lines, they didn't have the hose and suggested a breakers , I gave up at that point.

Albie, I'm not sure rubber hose is EU type approved for colonic irrigation :)

Try going to a local back street garage, they should be able to help. Petrol hose should be fine.

I've got a shed load of neoprene brake tubing here which I use for rear-set conversions. Petrol tubing is NOT suitable for brake fluid.

Go back to your dealer and shout part number 87710501A, to which he should reply "that'll be 60 pence Sir".

Cheers.
