Chris
20-04-2004, 10:14 PM
After rain stopped play the new date is set for meeting the MMM at Rutland as 30th May (bank holiday weekend, Sunday)

The plan as before will be to meet at 10:30 at the Embankment pub in Bedford, leaving at 11:00 and riding up the famous B660 and on up to Rutland.

We will stop for lunch at the White Horse in Empingham (if there is any racing on they have a "quiet room" with a tv we can reserve) and meet with the MMM.

The return route will be through Oakham, Rockingham and Northampton (possible stop at Riverside Ducati) and back to Bedford.

Anybody is welcome, please let me know if you can make it, and if you want to meet up anywhere on the way around.

It sounds like there will be groups riding in from the midlands, lincolnshire, staffordshire......

Lets make it a good turnout from bedfordshire (and surrounding counties)

Please post here if you are likely to make it. I need to let the Pub know a rough idea of numbers.

Yeah ok......The weather isn't looking too wonderful, we might need some waterproofs this week instead of sunscreen, but what the hell! Just the noise of all those Monsters riding out together should be enough to demolish several listed buildings on the way........Is it Sunday Yet? :burnout:

Chris

It could be worse than a choke cable..........the muppet in the UPS delivery van just reversed into my Monster knocking it flat......"sorry mate, I just didn't see it".

Damage is on the RH side and is mostly superficial, so it should still be rideable for Sunday. I'll know later when I ride it home if the forks or frame are twisted.

Hope to be there still on Sunday!

Well I got home in one piece this time!!!

Thanks to everyone for coming along, and ignoring the weather forcast (sorry Pooh & Tigger, we all stayed dry). A big thanks to the staff at the White Horse (I've just phoned them to say thanks) who coped very well considering I only told them to expect 10-20 not over 30 over us!

Nice to see some new faces (and forget lots of names!) PeteS4, Madhatter......(I still can't get over how quick you got that 750 to move!)

Next Bedford evening ride out will be on the 16th June, to Meldreth bike show, Cambs, which is a great charity bike show and usually a fantastic turnout, so hope to see you there.

A great day out and well organised Chris! It was a fun ride-out up to the White Horse, even though I had to stop and get the two bees out of my skid-lid that I had scooped up on the way (as annoying as Banshee's ants). I've never seen that many Monsters in one place at one time, outside of the Ducati Dealer. Enjoyed looking at all the trick-bits people had done to their bikes, it's given me a few ideas. The ride-out back was even more fun, hussling my 750 along behind your 900 and the S4's (poor ol'girl). I'm still not sure at what point I bottomed out the rear shock and exploded my number plate, but I've just been out today and got a new one. Do all Monsters have the number plate glued on? Cos mine did! Think I'll drill this one. See you all next time.

At one point, the old "Grant Mitchell" hair cut was indeed going a very deep shade of red outside the "Embankment". Good to run with you and the yellow and carbon S4.

I like the sound of a run-out to southend!! Monsters and ice cream!!

madhatter
01-06-2004, 08:16 AM
Had a sleepless night, now you've got me worrying about my nipples....plus on the 750, mine are inverted......nice to meet you and put a face to a name....wasn't my 750 quiet when I rode pass you outside the White Horse!

Does anyone know how to grease these or is everyone at the Ducati factory sworn to secrecy????

peteS4
