Hi all

a quick question:

I've been asked by a friend if all Monsters share the same size engine mounting bolts - specifically the one normally used to mount crash bungs. They've been told that some use a 10mm and some use 12mm bolts.

Anyone know for sure?

Cheers

Ok, I've just bought some Motrax DHM mushrooms. The instructions say to remove the engine bolt. Eh???? Surely the engine will fall out!!! Has anyone else fitted any of these? How?

I spoke with Motrax about this too - give Jenny at Motrax a shout for more info as they are revising the instructions I think.

Tell her Pedro sent you!!

The reply from Motrax is that 2001 onwards monsters have 12mm bolt but Motrax haven't made any mushrooms for the monster with this size bolt yet.

No it won't!

I fotted R&G crash protectors at the weekend.

You have to loosen the bolt on the LHS of the engine.

On the RHS engine is a nut which you undo and remove.

You then take the new engine bar and use that to tap through the old engine bar from the RHS

Make sure you use a wooden or rubber mallet!

It will go through quite easily and then you just screw on the crash bungs and torque as necessary :)

Then pray you never have to use them!

Ok, but I've discovered the motrax ones are the wrong size for my 2002 monster anyway so they're going back. Anyhow, my point is that the instructions state simply "remove the engine bolt and replace with the new bolt". Anyone slightly blonde or under the influence of drink may follow the instructions and find their engine on their foot! Motrax are aware of this and are amending their instructions.
