We are going to meet the Bedford lot for lunch at the White Horse in Empingham around 12:30-1:00. This is just by Rutland Water and in a lovely setting.

Can I have your suggestions for meeting places for the derby, east leake, loughborough and Leics members.

How do we want to do this?

chateau natteau can be used if it suits anyone, what way are we going, up the A47 or another way, my S.O.D. neuron has misfired again

I would suggest going accros Six Hills to Melton, and on to Oakham, lovely roads out that way. Have a good ride!

A mate of mine from Loughborough may also be heading over on his Aprillia Mille, so if you see him wave!

Chat Nat`s no good for the Loughborough / East Leake crew, Cotes mill is a better prospect, we could meet the Leicester rejects in Melton !

So how about we all meet at Six Hills the Ox at 11.30? Just off the A46. you know the tuesday bike night thing

that would be better for all members in all locations....
all in favour say 'Julies ace'
all not in favour say 'Ruth smells'

Oi I only meant for the Leicester lot to meet at Chat Nat, no need to get insulting Mr Bunney and no one is going to venture anywhere near Anals on this ride are they? (unless Didge is coming along)

I would have thought the Leicester lot would have given Melton a wide berth.

Went over to Oakham and back from Bristol today, I have several routes from Leicester;

1. From end of Western by pass, follow A606 to roundabout after East Goscote, get in middle lane into Queniborough. Tale a left in village and head out past church in Twyford direction. That road is a fast thrash and quiet too.
After 5 minutes you get to the hall junction above Twyford and you have a choice

either go right thro Tilton bends to Tilton on the Hill. (these bends are so good that on occasion I have been known to turn round and do them again) then turn left in Tilton over to Oakham. A cracking road too.

OR Go left down into Twyford then turn right in village, up thro Burrough and Somerby then across Cold Overton to Langham, I like this way as its a challenging road with some great twisties.

From Hobby Horse Island to Oakham either way is 22 minutes.

2. From South Leicester go out round the airport to Houghton on the Hill then out on the A47 till the street lights finish and turn left up to Tilton and across to Oakham.

3. Take the A47 to Uppingham then come up to Oakham that way, not so challenging but very fast (watch the cameras)

4. From Lutterworth, head out towards Harbrough then turn left just before Harbrough passing Gartree? prison then out along that B road passing Foxton up to Tilton and Oakham

All great roads, no wonder I get to work with a smile.

Isn't it the A607 to Melton, the one with all the good twisties where we managered to scrape the exhaust on one interesting bend (on the Trumpet not the Monster)

Nat, you were a Lions fan ???? that`s us talking for EVER, I went from 1969 until it closed (I hate Barretts) in 1983, was with the Lions as I am with the Foxes now, a fanatic, that is a race jacket in the picture from the 1980 season as worn by Colin Cook, a treasured posession !

Morning Ladies, riding in this kind of weather isn't my idea of fun either! (except on the supermoto!)

The forcast is for it to clear up throughout the day a bit.

I'm going to have breakfast now, depressed, and wait for the sun to come out!!!

Julie
18-04-2004, 07:41 AM

Well Ive just got up! Felt a bit iffy last night and had galloping gutrot and a temprature all through the night, no way I could have ridden the bike. So I feel a bit better knowing that the meets been postponed, and I didnt miss anything as no-body went! See you at the "Rutland 2" then!!!!

Lee, Georgie and I turned up at the meeting point in Bedford at 9.30, no one there so we went for a blast. Stayed dry till lunchtime when we found a nice little country pub with Eurosport, settled down to a bowl of soup and a pint and some great racing. Great day. :D

PS got wet on the way home though :(

18-04-2004, 09:23 PM
I'm telling lies. Stayed in bed, read the papers, watched the racing. No idea what Lee and Georgina did.

superlight3
19-04-2004, 07:23 AM
We sat on the sofa, got drunk, and watched possibly the best bike race since Bayliss and Edwards fought it out at Imola!!

Cheers.
