Hi all...I'm coming to London soon with mate on bikes. Where can you park a bike if you want to go for a wander etc? I take it not on the pavement?

Cheers!

definitely not on pavement, you'll get an instant ticket, four minutes quicker than a double yellow line! (sadly unlike everywhere else i've been in europe, where they seem to operate a 'no harm, no foul' policy and a bike parked sensibly on a pavement is ignored if it doesn't cause an obstruction.)

there are plenty of bike parks, some pay by phone, some free depending on borough.
lock your bike with additional locks/chains etc. bike theft is fairly common unfortunately, although an m600 is likely to attract less attention than a new panigale etc.

Thanks! That site is good. I live in Netherlands now where you can park on pavements as you describe. Which is sensible.

I will bring extra locks! That is the same story in Europe!

When we did the last tunnel run we parked under Hyde Park near Marble Arch.
It was free secure parking.

But if you really must go to London, take the train or Megabus. Save the bike for a nice ride.
