Here's a perfectly good 2002 M750ie Dark.

Possibly slightly less than perfect now?
Note the object just behind Dacs' elbow.

M750 engine now on the desk and ex Bitza 944 special with lightened flywheel on the operating table.
This could be interesting! Don't miss the next instalment.. :mand:

Thanks to Mr Gazza for the photos, I guess the option to keep quiet and put the 750 back in has now disappeared. Thanks also due for his sage advice when the swing arm pivot pin wouldn't tap through to "remove the circlip?" :banghead: And for providing light relief when he forgot which way to turn the allen key to undo a bolt.
I do have a question, what is the recommended torque setting for the cover on the right side of the sump which closes the opening that the pre-filter hides in and includes the oil temperature sender? The manual suggests 42 nm, but that is the same as the manual setting for the sump plug and that is generally accepted as being wrong.
Finally, I've just bought these so I should be able to move even further out of my comfort zone now -

I've always gone with the manual, around 30 lb/ft - there is considerably more thread on this than the sump so can't see it being a problem.

Then again, I've gone with the same on the sump plug and not had a problem after many oil changes.

Dukedesmo, thanks for the response. Until recently I had followed the manual (42 nm) for the sump plug without problem, then dropped to about 28nm on the last oil change for the M1000 and that hasn't shifted yet. I think I'll use the "what feels good" method for the filter plug and keep a close eye on it.

Update -

Bitza's 944 motor moved to bench and fitted with an S4 alloy swingarm that I got from Ebay some time ago for the 750 but never got round to fitting -

At least now I know why Ducati sell their peculiar version of circlips to fit the ends of the swing arm pin in bags of ten. I didn't actually lose any, they are all in definitely in Aylsham :banghead:

750 frame, forks, headlamp, bars and levers and wiring loom added -

750 rear suspension and wheels in and engine stand removed, so I now have a rolling project. 750 throttle bodies, fuel lines with matched injectors (which came with the 944 motor) and airbox fitted today -

Looking good Dacs. You're making good progress now.

My little project is nearly finished, just need to put some petrol in the tank and press the button. In for an MOT this week hopefully, then up for sale for 2k. All refreshed and ready to go.
