I'm still looking for an airbox lid for my 1995 M900. I have one for my open filter but the lid has been cut down too much to the extent that when it is clipped on , the clips distort the lid and try and pull it off. Has anyone got a complete lid or a decent cut down one I could buy ? Has anyone contemplated making a custom clamp which would do the job instead ?
Thanks

At one time you could buy a small metal frame to hold the filter. Not sure if you can still get them.

Nasher made a very neat adapter frame for his 900 a couple of years ago. Perhaps he can give you some advice.

Don’t forget they used the same lid on the SS range as well.

I've seen them for sale somewhere but can't remember where, but some time ago. Not Desmoworld, at least could not see any there. Maybe Kaemna?

You might be thinking of Speedycom Performance, Darren. They used to sell them but they're not listed anymore.

You could also consider one of these;

The MWR High Efficiency option looks to have the frame built into it. Do you have to drill the airbox?

Actually, now I come to think of it I have seen and bookmarked a carbon fibre lid for the injection bikes which is little more than a cut down lid/frame. I will have a look for it as they probably do one for the carbys.

IIRC they were about £100 though.

Slob to the rescue before it gets stupid expensive! :)

Unfortunately Slob isn't to the rescue unless I'm missing something. That link is to the frame that you would see when you remove the filter , i.e it sits under the filter.

We need Nasher to make a few more of his frame!!

You could probably make a frame from double glazed unit spacer bar. I suggested this to Nasher I think, but he'd already made one of course.

The spacer bar is an aluminium thin wall box section and cheap as chips.
You would have to saunter into a unit maker and see if you could buy a length of spacer bar.
They would also have corner connectors which would make it a very easy job of simply cutting the bar (box) to length and joining it up, probably with a spot of glue, as it won't be supported by glass and sealer.

It has one slightly concave edge, so the clips would engage in it well, if not, gently punching in some hollows would be easy.

It comes 6mm x 6mm and then 6mm x 8, 10, 12, 14 and so forth in 2mm increments.
Nasher's looks like it's 6 x 12 ? I'm sure he would confirm.

I might be mistaken but it looks like an airbox lid to me!

I see what you mean, It's the upper section of the airbox itself, I thought it was a cut down lid

Why not just order a new lid from Moto Rapido as they are only about £25 with the club discount. Twice as much if you want a pair of rubber trumpets too.

I had a good look yesterday and I only have the gridded piece that sits under the filter and the lid - Sorry

I phoned Moto Rapido this morning but the lid is no longer available new so I'm still looking.

I like Nasher's clamp solution but I don't have the skills to make a decent job of it.

Stein Dinse are listing the updated number for them:

Might be worth ring Moto Rapido with the new number.

Edit: might not fit, they say it's ok for 2000 on 900 Monsters and 84 - 97 400 Monster. Didn't think they changed the airbox lid for injection models, anyone?

According to MR the part number for the lid is

"old number" 24610461A

"new number" 24610463A

Hi, sorry, should have seen this sooner.

I've no plans to make any more frames at the moment I'm afraid, but do have a couple of airbox lids hanging around.
I think I have a complete one, and a cut down one, but need to get to my storage container to have a look, which I can't do until tomorrow evening.

Nasher.
