Hi all, I'm starting to settle into my new home near Ashbourne, Derbyshire, and have just realised that the Darley Moor Circuit is just down the road. I have never visited the circuit before but it would be very handy maybe for the odd trackday & or watching some racing. Is anyone out there familiar with Darley Moor? Bitza.

Raced push bikes up there a couple of times. It's always bloody freezing.

A couple of my mates used to race there in the 70s.
Being an ex-airfield circuit its flat and not massively interesting but it did have a strong following on the club racing circuit.

Three straights about 400 yards each linked by three corners, windy, freezing cold & boring

A great place.

It's the first track I ever went to watch a motorbike race, it's also where I did my first ever race, first place I ever got my knee down and where I had my first highside - off the line, through the first chicane in first place, into the right hander (that's in a bit of a dip) too much throttle on cold tyres and up and away.

Happy days...

It's been a long time since I went but I remember that it wasn't much to get in and the racing came thick and fast, which is all I wanted from a race track

Umm well thanks for the LOW DOWN, not too much to look forward to on the Darley Moor front then, especially as I can experience the freezing cold bit from here anyway. It won't be like when I live near Snetterton for sure. Bitza

P.S. Thanks for the positive comment Blah blah, first high-side eh much the same as loosing your cherry I guess, so that'll be something to look forward to!

On the plus side, you’re about 30 miles from Donington

I’ve never been there but the CRMC race there fairly regularly although like all racing not sure what’ll happen this year.

If you’ve never been to a Classic meeting they’re always worth a visit if you like getting up close (open paddocks) to motorcycles making a lot of noise and smells of a past era.

I bet the TZ750’s were fun round there!!! :D

looks better than not having any racetrack on your doorstep, google maps looks like there's a grasstrack and a dirt oval there too.
