As I now know one of the Fenman prime movers quite well, the possibility of UKMOC having a stand there on the August Bank Holiday Monday, has presented itself.

The pitch will cost nothing, but everyone still pays the normal entrance fee into the field where all the stalls are, that also gets you into the school playground to see all the display bikes.
We can have enough room for the gazebo and as many Monsters as are likely to attend. I am also 90% sure that we will be allowed to park one car or van behind the gazebo for maximum convenience.

I know that they are going to clamp down on arrival times for exhibitors this year as the Harley owners always arrive late and cause problems riding through the public to get to their pitch. I think no later than 10am was mentioned.

If nothing else it's the ultimate secure parking for the event! Another way to see the show too.
Anyone up for it?

I can supply the gazebo , will need to take it over the night before and leave it at the pub

That's a smashing offer Capo.. Thank you and yes please... :D

That's got the ball rolling, all we need now is Monsters that don't mind an early-ish start.

Thanks to Capo for gazebo supply.

Monday august 26th then, just to put a date on it.
This is always a really nice event, with plenty of interesting bikes of absolutely all types to see, and in a really nice setting.
Friendly locals too.
One of my favourite outings of the year.
Count me in.

Count me in!
The Fenman must be one of the best bike shows in East Anglia. Where else would a village allow thousands of bikes to descend for a day, take over, eat, show off rare and interesting machinery, listen to loud music, then clear off until next year!

As I haven't been booked into anything else for the late summer bank holiday (yet), I'm in.

I think I've just managed to confirm a booking for a pitch at the Fenman on the August Bank Holiday Monday.
Grumpy and I will deal with getting Capo's canopy on site on the day, or the day before. Together with a large selection of banners, or a selection of large banners even!

All we need is folk with Monsters to turn up and enjoy a fabulous day... :mand:

That's great.
Let's have a chat when we meet at Arbuckles to sort out the logistics.:mand:

Our pitch has been confirmed, but no idea whereabouts on the field we will be.

I have been told that we must have the stand in place by 9am, but it's not clear yet if there is a latest time that bikes can enter the field to get to the stand.
Hopefully the Norton owners will have their gazebos up the night before, so I will see if I can blag some on site storage for our stuff overnight.... Must remember to sharpen my penknife.

Wind!:

My apologies, I had beanz for tea three times in a row this week.

It's a grass school sports field so it should be easy to guy down this time... I'm investigating screw in pegs.. good if the ground is soft, hammer in ones if the ground is hard.

Timely bump for this, as we are now into August.

Pitch is booked, canopy and banners sorted... Just need Monsters.. :D

Grumpy is kindly getting the paraphernalia to the site on Sunday evening.
We will be very grateful for any assistance on Monday morning to set the thing up.
We are hoping to be there by 9am to set up, so we'll be pleased to see any extra hands.

Please come and show your Monster. Please try and be on site before 10am, as they really don't like bikes riding through the public when they open later on.
You might have to push it across the field or risk getting turned away if you're too late.

Don't miss being part of the biggest and nicest show of the year.

My friend with his red bull monster is on about attending the show, will he be able to put his bike on the stand if he gets there before 10? I'm not sure if I'll make it my self.

Mr Gazza
14-08-2019, 04:37 PM
Yes of course. All welcome.
Come to think of it we could probable squeeze the KTM in, if you managed to make it. Maybe behind the Gazebo or somewhere discreet?

Kingfisher88

I'll try my best to make it, I could always bring a cover to hide it...
I will let him him know and find out if he is definitely going.

Another bump as the clock ticks away.

Hoping for a good show of Monsters at this one. Please come along and say hello, if you don't want to be get embroiled with setting the stand up or even loitering around, just roll up with your Monster and regard it as VIP parking and helmet dump and enjoy the day.

Tell your mates with Monsters they can park on our lot too.. The more the merrier.. :mand:

Mr Gazza
20-08-2019, 08:48 PM
Hello Colin, thinking of coming?

Postcode is PE34 3QH.. You can't miss it. it's the entire village of Wimbotsham and most of the outlying fields packed with rare and unusual bikes.. and some ordinary ones.

I tried to find their website, but they use faceplant now.. https://en-gb.facebook.com/pages/category/Event/Fenman-Classic-Bike-Show-123462872212/

Just received an email from the Fenman ominously entitled "Final instructions"

Anyway the goalposts seem to have been moved from information I have had from them previously... Please note the new set-up times.

"This is a generic email sent to all Club Stands and Charity Stands

For this years show we have 3 areas for parking.

You are entered as a CLUB, when arriving at the booking in area on the village playing field please inform the gate staff you are a CLUB. This will speed up the parking process.

Paperwork - if you haven’t completed the booking forms yet, please either send back via email or bring on the day.

If you haven’t completed the forms when you arrive these will need to be completed before setup can commence. (If you have lost the forms they are attached again)

The address is for the show is

Village Playing field

Church road

Wimbotsham

Kings Lynn

Norfolk

PE34 3QB (closest postcode)

When you are approaching from A10 you will see the Fenman bike show signs.

If you follow them into the village you will find the playing field.

Arrivals for setup of Stand

You may arrive on Sunday afternoon from 2pm to 8pm to set up and you are welcome to stay on the field over night but please be advised we only have portaloos and access to drinking water. We have no power on site for general use.

If you arriving on Monday morning we are open from 6am to 8:30am - remember the show opens to the public at 9am.

NOTE TO BIKERS FOR CLUB STANDS

If you have riders coming to the stand they are welcome to arrive after the show starts but please let them know to ride slow on the show ground as the public are on the field.

As it’s for charity please remind bikers that it’s £5 to get in for each rider / passenger, which gets you access to all of the show.

We hope you have a great day"

Yes Gazza I hope to be there . 135 mile each way of m-way, not going to be the best journey ever . LOL .
Thanks for the offer grumpy, but I'm sure I will be fine . If I leave early enough I hope to be there between 9-9;30 .
weather looks like it's going to be spot on !

Mr Gazza

It'll be really good to see you Colin, but good luck finding very much motorway in Norfolk. You will find the slip road off to Wimbotsham quite long and twisty..:mand:.. Safe journey mate.

Due to the new timings on the email, I will be aiming to get on site for 8.30am, present the forms and find the pitch… I dare say we'll still be setting up when they open the gates, but hey, we've got all day.

If you want a bit of company I'm planning to leave Colchester at around 0800, looking for a 10ish arrival. I sort of know the way, bit of duel carrigeway , but otherwise ok

Quick update.

Capo, Grumpy and I will be at Wimbotsham at about 4pm on Saturday. Hopefully we will get the stand pretty much together. Anyone who is in the area is welcome to help out, but no need to make a special effort.

This means that a slightly more relaxed arrival can be had by all and there's no need for super early attendance. I will still be aiming to get there before 9am in case there is any last minute fettling required.

Just roll up and enjoy folks.… Don't be late..

Once bitten... I've got some super long pegs that screw into the ground with a drill.. They've even got glow in the dark plastic ends!! :woot:

I'll bring a Hilti-gun to East Kirkby next year, so we can nail the basta down to the concrete!

Thanks for the offer, probably be a better route than I know but would mean a 6:30 start to get to you for 8.
Was an early/full day at work today and may go in tomorrow so will take the direct route up Monday. Can leave at 7:30 for a 9:30 /10 arrival.

No worries Colin. As it happens I’m not going to be able to go now, I need to go & deal with a bit of a family issue tomorrow.
Hope that you all enjoy the show, try not to get too burnt, if it’s anything like today it’s going to be a hot one.
I’ll catch up with you all soon, I hope.

Sorry to hear that Dave. Family always comes first.

So the canopy is up and the pitch is the first one of the middle row of club stands.

You can't miss it as you come round the side of the little building with the site office, onto the field. It's a big Red Gazebo.

Grumpy and I will be there at 9am, so roll up when you can and enjoy the show.

Sorry I've been a bit quiet but I've had family stuff to do too.
Hoping to arrive around 9.30 though, in a small convoy of myself and Dukedesmo.
Well done and thanks on the prep guys .. top job.
Should be a stonker again this year.
Its usually good, but even better on a hot, sunny day.
See you tomorrow.

So I arrived nice and early... A little before 9am, and got the shock of my life! I'm not sure I will ever live this down, Utopia was there before me!!.. :chuckle:

Great to see everyone of course. We had 11 Monsters on display I think, and some very nice ones too. An impressive display. Well done chaps!

Great to see Doggy up from Kent and also long time member tonygixxr for the first time. Hope you liked us Tony and will join us for breakfast some time.

Roll credits.. Thanks to Capo for the loan of the canopy, George for helping out, even though he's not a Monster owner, Grumpy for transporting the paraphernalia and putting it up on Sunday. Special thanks to Sarah and Ally for diving in and transporting the said paraphernalia back to within striking distance of my parish, thus saving me a lot of chasing up and down the old Downham Market road. Finally thanks to all of you for bringing Monsters, being good company and putting on a great show...:mand:

Only ever seen 860GTS before but it was clearly made as a 900 too. Not my favourite Ducati styling, but I wouldn't kick it out of bed for farting!

What a cracking day.
Blue skies, more unusual bikes than you can imagine. Everything from an Indian 1930's model 101,not the oldest, but in my eyes the most impressive. Never been restored, ridden regularly. To the point where the Indian head logo has been worn away on the petrol tank! To modern electric bikes.
Great to catch up with everyone, and as Gazza mentioned, a big thank you to every one who turned up and mucked in.
I hope everyone one arrived home safety.
