Hi All, First what is the standard rear sprocket for a S2R 1000? and what is that like to ride. I'm using a pumped version of this engine and was wondering what rear sprocket to use. I tend to prefer over-gearing, and from looking at theoretical graphs am considering 38 or 39 tooth rear sprockets. What are your thoughts, Bitza.

Standard 1000 gearing is 15/41. I had an 1100 big bore kit on mine and ran it on the standard gearing and it was fine (for me).

I also prefer my monster to be relatively over-geared.
I can't speak for the S2R1000, but my 750 is currently running 15/40 .. and I've bought a 39 rear to try next time.
Therefore I would guess that you would find Luddite's 15/41 a little under-geared.

My 750 engine is std apart from its exhaust, but its weight is down to 164kg or thereabouts and its wheels are carbon so they spin up fast.

edit .. note that my personal liking for an "overgeared" monster is a little unusual though .. perhaps even extreme.
Most folk wouldn't share my preference to quite such a level.
But hopefully the info will contribute to an overall impression of where best to choose your own gearing.

I went up 3T on the rear, to 15/42 on my 1000DS, my tuned 1100 is fine on the stock 15/39
