Well, the gritters have been operating in Hampshire this weekend as I found out on an autumn spin this morning.

If you want to check when they're next out, the council announce it here:

And this map shows which routes are treated:

No doubt other councils will have similar Twitter accounts.

Roll on Spring!

Last year I would've fretted, as the monster was my only transport (no car these days).
I didn't take it out much but it did do a few miles on freshly salted, slush covered roads and I'm still finding teensy bits of salt corrosion in the nooks and crannies that my cleaning regime didn't reach.
This year however, I'm covered.
My trusty Dommie is finally converted to the fairing-free, ally-tanked, super-simple workhorse that it always should have been .. and its lovely.
Every monster owner should have one.
(I might do a retrospective build thread, for some winter reading).

Here's hoping that they don't spray too much of the nasty, corrosive grit around this year.
A few years ago they went mad with the stuff and it accumulated in great swathes in those little off-line bits of road that the car wheels never cross .. but bikes do.
Not only does this keep the salt hitting your bike well into the late spring but it also creates quite a skid hazard in those areas where it persists, sometimes well into the summer. In fact some of it is still there now.

Bring it on Jeff... Non Monster build threads are always interesting.
