Hi all.
Has anyone here put a new cover onto an early type (Pointy front) seat?
I'd like suggestions on what to get (Or avoid) from the group experience.
Ta!

Hello mate.

I'm not sure Ducati sell the seat cover separately, worth a go though if you can find one.

A new complete new saddle is surprisingly cheap, although still more than I'd pay:

I'm sure you already know this, which is why you are asking, but my experience of re-covering saddles over the years has taught me one thing - You get what you pay for!

Every time I've tried a cheap pattern cover it's always turned out to be rubbish quality or doesn't fit well.

If you do get hold of one I have a good quality powerful staple gun and stainless stapes you can borrow.

I also have a really good guy over here, based in Emsworth, who has made custom covers for me in the past.

Nasher.

Hi Nasher.
Not sure about that Stein Dinse seat?
It says it's for the early bikes, but has a pin latch and looks to have the later rounding off of the front corners, so doesn't look "Right" to me. It also appears to have a hole in the cover, though that may possibly covered by the hard cover?
My own past experience on replacing covers on 70s Hondas is mixed: it isn't hard fitting a cover, but if the cover isn't somewhere near to the correct shape it's never going to look right. That's why I'm hoping for comments on what's good or bad.
I may well take you up on your contact: let's see what other replies there are.
Thanks.

I can recommend Tony Archer for seat recovering, he makes his own to fit and can sculpt the seat to make them more comfortable. I had my Tiger sport seat raised and recovered and it was a brilliant job.

No recommendations for supply of a cover, so I’m taking a punt on one of these:

I’ll report back on how it compares.

Looked closely at this one too, but it seems to be too rounded at the front for me:

Neither list the year and there are some differences between years as I'm sure your aware but maybe only slight enough for a cover to work regardless? I don't know. I happend upon a s/h cheap Corbin for mine which is much nicer and leather and a lot more comfortable but a little lower than standard so with rearsets its a bit more cramped than I had thought it would be.
