Hi All
Bit of a forum novice, fancied getting back into something a bit more modern and saw a Monster 800 on eBay. Unfortunately now sold. I fancy something small and grunty and thought this might suit. But would be interested in any advice. I think there is a space between my 1930’s Moto Guzzi and 860 gts!
Cheers for now Bruce
Few and far between, for 800s you'll have more luck finding an S2R or if you'd consider something a little more modern an M796, essentially the same motor with updated cylinder heads.

Welcome to the forum Bruce, the 860GTS was my first and only Ducati until now as I have a 1200s. The 860 is one of those bikes I wished I still had as they are fetching good money now but how many times have you heard that.

Thanks for the welcome. We’ve all sold stuff cheap just before the rise. I used to have a Laverda Jota, when I gave up riding it I let it stand for a year or two and ended up selling it for £800. But I kept the GTS! Swings and roundabouts.

Hello and welcome aboard.
Well done for hanging on to that bevel twin.. Nice.
Always thought they looked a bit funny in Green? But they do scrub up nicely.. Some very tasty 860GTS customs about.
What you need is a nice M900ie, preferably an M900Sie. those will have a satisfying amount of grunt for you, with modern reliability and one foot in the past.
Any pictures of your 860 GTS by any chance?

Hi, Bruce.
Just a quickie as I only got back from WDW 20 mins ago.
I'm just down the road from you.
Nice to see another leicestershire member.
Keep an eye out for my blue M750.
Incidentally, I have a Haynes manual for a GT860, which I bought in the 70s, knowing I would own a Ducati sooner or later (turned out to be quite a lot later).
Anyway, just shout if a borrow of the manual is needed at any time.
Or a scan/copy perhaps.

It’s an extra 200cc but that can only be good. Thanks for all the help and advice.

Hi Bruce welcome aboard. There is a blue 800ie currently for sale on eBay, fetching £1900 at the moment. Personally I agree with Mr Gaza 900ie is the better bike but each to their own.
I used to have a GTS (& a GT) great bikes a little overlooked at the time but from my point of view that was a good thing as it made them cheaper than their desmo brothers. Prices now rising rapidly, wish I'd hung on to one of mine.

I think you need a bigger picture Bruce?
Nobody seems to realise that You've just landed yourself a beautiful M1000Sie in Senna colours... Lovely. Well done.
