Rev counter playing up

My rev counter keeps dying intermittently. It reads ok for a while then drops to zero, it comes back on then dies again. Any ideas?

Sounds like a connection making and breaking.
That could be a loose connector block or bullet, or it could be a break in the conductor inside the insulation, which will be an absolute pig to trace!

Start by running the engine and watching the tacho while you wiggle and manipulate parts of the harness to try and narrow down the area of the break.... Good luck.

I take it the bike itself is running okay and the Rev counter stopping isn’t accompanied with any spluttering etc?

Also what kind of rev counter is it and do you know where it picks up its signal from?

The engines running fine, I'm thinking the pickup is in the binicle but i should be able to suss it out... i hope.
