Woo Hoo! Looking forward to this a lot.

This is a great show, and I'm looking forward to seeing the newly restored Lancaster too.
They also have a Mosquito now. So plenty to see.

We should get a good crowd of Monsters to this one...

Based on last year I'd reckon on £12 to £14 per adult for general public admission. I'll confirm the 2018 price as soon as we know.

If the UKMOC want to do something special to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Ducati Monster, please let me know. We can make arrangements given enough notice  .....

The Aviation Centre is closed on Sunday 27th so if you want to set-up a display/stand then it'll have to be done before the Centre opens to the public at 9.30am on Monday 28th.

A stand or designated area would be good if we get a few more participants.
This show was the first show I attended as a club member, I met loads of folk there for the first time, who are now firm friends. There was a club display that time.

We should have plenty of stuff left over from the weekender, so what could be carried on a bike could be put to use, but we couldn't bring a structure... Maybe if we could get near those Cherry trees, where we were before, we could hang stuff off those?

smiffyraf1

that would be awesome. i dont mind getting there early to help set up etc. as long as am not sent away with work. its a bit mental at the min! ill book it off and hope for the best.

We have a stand in the main hanger this year with large tables and room for approx. 10 motorcycles. If you wish we can reserve some (or all) of the indoor space we've been allocated for a selection of Ducati Monsters.

I'm keen, though there is a chance that family stuff might disrupt my plans.
I'll do my best to skirt those though.

Sorry this thread has been quiet Chris. I think we should do something as a club.

I will try and drum up some Monsters for this, at the weekender and give this show the attention it deserves.
Hopefully we can let you know about some hangar space ASAP.

So do I and I don't even live in Lincolnshire... :mand:

The Tank that fires isn't even a tank.. I think it's a self propelled gun. It only just goes poot!... No louder than a cap gun.. :mand:

We visited the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre (LAHC) yesterday to finalise details for tomorrow’s event. Part one of their ‘Lanc & Tank’ event was in full swing when we arrived. To give you a flavour of what to expect tomorrow I’ve posted a selection of photos and two short videos on our website.

There’s three tanks in the live firing display, two M24’s and a M36.

Okay, so they've found some bigger caps for the tanks. They were rattling the rafters in the NAAFI while we were trying to munch on cake and chips.

Brilliant weather and great turn out of Monsters, but sadly we couldn't all park together as planned ,due to the Buell camp being quite overbearing and apparently in charge of parking? The chappie interfering with the display heard a few choice words!
I guess this is the problem when no official UKMOC cat herd is appointed for the event?

A cracking day out and great to see everyone again.

This "Monster" was interesting. Difficult to put a date on some of the parts? It featured little scoops on the front frame rails to clear the headlamp brackets on full lock, also an alloy hugger integrated with the swinging arm.

Yes, a grand day out.
Shame about the spread out parking but a good turnout of monsters anyway.
Thanks to Smiffy for the banners.

Not at all sure about those frame scoops myself.
Structural compromise for dubious aesthetic reasons (why not just retain the std headlamp mounting ?).

As before, the sight and sound of the Lancaster made me well up a little.
It really does bring home the vibe of those times and what the people involved went through.
My dad was an RAF flight mechanic on an airfield around those parts during the war.

Thanks also to Dukedesmo for picking an absolutely cracking route home (and at a decent pace too).

This was my first time at this event. I had a cracking day. It was great to meet some of you and see the fine display of bikes.
The air display was worth the entrance fee alone.
Fine coffee and cake in the NAFFI too!

Apologies for the lack of an outside ‘Monster-only’ parking zone. Given the substantial number of bikes present, with all of them arriving at different times, it was near on impossible for us to arrange it as the event unfolded. There was a reserved space in the hanger for UKMOC but it wasn’t used. Perhaps you didn’t think it was suitable?

Any road up, a big thank you to everyone from UKMOC who attended yesterday’s event.

The Lincs Italian Motorcycle Festival 2018 raised £766 for Emma's Charity and £1425 for the Aviation Centre.

Its not a dig at all Chris and Kudos to you for organising it. I know when i arrived pretty early and spoke to you at the gate when you said just park the monsters second line from the grass and once a few have arrived all move together into the hanger but later on around 11:30 i did ask one of the marshalls and he said it would not be happening due to the amount of people moving around. it was fine being outside anyway. was a good day and congrats on the amounts raised.

Yes well done all involved, a great day had.

Nice ride home, interrupted by my gear linkage falling off, leaving me stuck in 4th gear but thankfully repaired at the roadside with Utopia's assistance.

I wasn't aware of the difficulties you were having and it's unforgivable that you were treated so shabbily. If I'd known I would have intervened and perhaps could have done something to sort it out.

Even though things didn't work out as expected I'm glad you all enjoyed the day; and thanks once again for supporting the event.

Mr Gazza
31-05-2018, 04:55 PM
It's not your fault Chris, you did good.
The fellow directing the bikes in, was only concerned with getting all the Buells together and nothing else. But we've learned a lesson, it's obvious that we need a Monster marshal at the gate to point them in the right direction. I don't mind getting there early next time to herd the cats.

For what it's worth, and this is meant as constructive criticism not a moan.. I think the big mix up of UJMs and Italian machines, dilutes the very brief of the show.
Of course it would take a little more effort on someone's part to get the Italian and non Italian in separate areas, but just one chappie managed to get all the Buells together, so I reckon it could be done and would make one of the best events on the calendar into a superlative show... And I seem to have already volunteered! :o

utopia
31-05-2018, 05:10 PM
Seconded ... not your fault at all, Chris.
My earlier comment about the spread out parking was not intended as a criticism at all.
I was thinking more along the lines of Gazza's suggestion that we should consider some marshalling of our own in order to keep our own cats sensibly herded.
I was as guilty as anyone really, as I allowed myself to be marshalled into an inappropriate parking spot and once there, it was difficult to move amongst the crowds and parked bikes, so I stayed where I was.
