M750 Front Wheel

Hi guys

Moto Rapido have I formed me the slight wobble I have through my front wheel is dew to the wheel being buckled.
So that being said, I’m on the hunt for a gold front wheel please.

You need to state the year more importantly since they changed axle sizes (17 to 25mm). IIRC SS and Monster front wheels and some early SBK fronts should be the same and will give you more options, depends on the year as its the axle size that will determine if they fit.

You can probably fit 25mm wheels onto a 17mm axle but will need different bearings and spacers.

I might be wrong but the 750 and 900 also have the same size front too. Not sure about 600, but probably that too is the same size.

Unfortunately it's not always that simple.

I've recently adapted some ST2 wheels which originally used 25mm spindle to fit my 900SS mongrel project with 17mm spindles.

17mm ID bearings with the same OD and width as the original 25mm ID ones are just not readily available, the only ones that are available are wider.

I ended up machining the bearing pockets in either side of the wheel a few mm deeper to do it.

However having purchased the ST2 wheels because the tyres and powdercoat on them were better than what I had, I soon realised that an added bonus was that they are significantly lighter than the originals.

Also note that there are two different styles of 3-spoke wheels.
Both have tapered spokes but these get wider towards the rim in older wheels while later wheels have spokes which get narrower towards the rim.
The later wheels are also lighter.
Whether or not this change corresponds directly to the change from 17 to 25mm spindles I dunno.

I dinged the front wheel of my 750 about 10yrs ago and had it straightened.
Cost me £50 at the time, done by a nice chap from Sleaford.
I believe Alf Hagon also offer a straightening service, and they might be nearer to you.
edit .. or Motoliner as Jonzi suggests.
Whether it can be done or not depends on the extent of the damage but it might be worth considering.

Of course, another option might be to shell out on a pair of lighter wheels.

Its a 2000 plate bike by the way and the spoke gets thinner - need to setup an account for photo sharing which would help I guess.

Something else to note if getting a replacement is that the speedo drive changed from a mechanical drive on the front axle to a magnetic drive on the rear. I think that happened around 2000 ish?

Moto liner in Maidstone have straightened a dinged front wheel for me and gave excellent service and results. It was ten years ago though.

Motoliner did a great job on my 750SS wheels, both got buckled when I hit an unguarded and unlit excavation about 200mm deep
