so, investigating another problem, i find this.... this is not good, ...

am i correct to assume that behind this cover is the fuel pump, and is it just me thats thinking its a bomb waiting to go off..

There must be something in the air because the heat protective foil on mine fell off three weeks ago too!

What you need is part no. 46013681A £2.46 incl. VAT and discount from Moto Rapido (01962 873981). Takes about a week to arrive.

Yes the fuel pump is underneath but there is an air gap. Without the foil, I wouldn't want to sit in traffic in 30° heat for any length of time, but I ran it for a couple of weeks unprotected without any problems.

really, just a foil patch.. ah well, i can sort that.

I think the same happened to mine several years ago. As well as replacing the patch my dealer wrapped the section of the exhaust in that area to try to reduce the amount of heat heading towards the fuel pump.
