Moley1 flagged this up last year and led a run there, from Caxton's Gibbet.

Moley, myself, Imoc Grumpy and Stinger101 all had a whale of a time.

Some interesting and unusual bikes and a fantastic turn out of Ferraris and all the other exotic Italian marques.

Smashing day out.... Anybody up for it?

Could be, yes.
Diary's clear.
Pencilled in.

Sounds like fun, I'll check the work schedule for that nearer the date.

Might be up for this, I have been a few times in the past and there are always interesting bikes & cars to see.

Grumpy

Count me in!

Yay! Good response.... a pre show meet might be tricky, we seem to be coming from all directions!

Apart from me and Dukedesmo.
.....Giz a pm if you fancy a rendezvous.

I was thinking of going a different way this year.
Hooking South of Peterborough and going down the A605, A45 and A6. Rather than the A10 or A11.

So maybe I could meet up with the Northerners? If you have somewhere in mind?

Grumpy
26-06-2017, 10:20 PM
We could meet in Higham Ferriers, which is on the A6 /A45 junction.
I've had a look on line and there is a cafe in the High St with good reviews.

We could meet at 11am?

Mr Gazza

Sounds like a plan, oh great one.

Hope they do good cream teas.

Well done, Grumpy.
I also thought that would be a good spot but failed to find a suitable meeting point.

Meeting up there, even though its only a short distance from the venue, would mean that we could all arrive, and therefore park up, together.

Unfortunately, I can't make it this year...have a good one!!

Just a thought, if there's a few of you, might be worth contacting the organiser Ciro to arrange a dedicated parking spot nearer the show area.

I follow them on Facebook so am happy to contact on your behalf and see what he says....?!

Mr Gazza

Sorry to hear you can't make it Moley. I was hoping to catch up.

A club patch would be cool if it's possible to arrange? We have 5 potential bikes already... And more will come.

Do we have to buy tickets this year? we were just waved through last year as we were on Italian bikes.

I've contacted Ciro, the organiser. He has sent me the following email with a special deal for the entry charge. It's still £5 (plus booking fee), but you get a £3 breakfast voucher and an event mug (woohoo!!). He recommended all arriving together so that you all get the same patch....

I hope you enjoy it!

Hi Stuart, please pass this on to all your club attendees, Thanks Ciro

Thanks for doing the donkey work Moley.

I'd better pull my finger out and book a ticket... Looking forward to more Lambo cake.. I had a slice of that last year.

We had better meet up a bit earlier than 11 guys?.. Maybe just a quick cuppa and then on to the show to use the breakfast voucher?

Mr Gazza

Just bought and printed my ticket..... Piece of cake... :mand:

Ditto!

Why don't we meet at 9.45?
As Gazza suggested, quick cuppa then on for breakfast

Is it necessary to have a printer for the advance online booking then ?
.....which I don't.

Mr Gazza

I think you can load it to your phone somehow, or get a text with the ticket details?

Or if you create an account with the ticket office and give me the password I can log on and print your ticket... Or Rick the shirt might be able to print it for you?... On a shirt...:chuckle:

Just had a proper look at Savour the Flavour's website, and it says they are closed Sundays.

Well, at such a close distance from the venue, I wouldn't be that fussed about missing a cuppa.
Just somewhere handy to park up while we congregate would suit me.

If I remember correctly, there's a lot of parkland around the river nene bridge thereabouts, so maybe that's what takes the sunday trade.
Dunno whether it contains any meet points or cafes though.

Higham Terriers is a 20 min ride from me along a stonking road. On Sunday i'll have a ride out and reccy cafes/meet points.

Spot on.

Also, I notice that there is a Little Chef at the roundabout where the A605 changes to the A45, and is crossed by the A14.
Might that be an option ?
I wouldn't mind diverting to come in via Corby, as it would avoid most of the boring bit of A14.

Great stuff..

Wish I could be more constructive, but I know more about the far side of the Moon than this area!!

I've conducted a reccie of the Higham Ferriers area today, there's a service area on the A45/B663 junction by a village called Raunds, which is a about 1 mile before Higham Ferriers travelling from the A14.(The next junction travelling towards Wellingborough is for the A6) Within the services there is a MacDonalds, why don't we say 9.45am at the Maci'ds?
BP have a petrol station as well so the bikes can be fueled if necessary.

Moley, we had a smashing time.
As well as Grumpy, Utopia and Dukedesmo, we were joined by newmon and Capo at the meeting point. (Thanks to Grumps for finding that.)
So we had a party of 6 riding in. 5 splendid Monsters and a Panigale. Grumps wasted no time carding the other Monsters that were there.

Thanks for linking to Ciro's film. He is a fantastic chap and you can tell from the film how high the standard of organisation is and the passion that goes into it.

I had a nice chat with Ciro (pronounced Chiro) about holding a Weekender at his hotel. This would be an excellent venue and you couldn't wish for a better host.

A few pictures to follow.

Looks like Ciro may be starting to consider including motorbikes in his future events...!

Apparently, MV are going to be the the guest marque at the 2018 Italian Day and he's thinking of inviting bikes to his future 'Classics Day'...

If you can be @rsed to read through the Facebook comments, you will see he mentions the 2018 UKMOC Weekender too!
