View Full Version : Fork types question 2004 1000sr2

Hello folks,

A quick question concerning the forks on my 2004 1000sr2 (the model with the belly pan/headlamp fairing)

The forks are non-adjustable whereas the handbook shows adjusters...

I had a Google for this model and some bikes have adjustable forks and others don't.

Was this a case of Ducati using whatever happened to be lying about in stock?

Cheers,

Paul

Do you mean S2R 1000 or the 1000S? The S2R1000 weren't made until '06, there's no such model as the 1000SR2 afaik.

If its a 1000S (DS) '04-05 then it should have fully adjustable forks and ally swingarm. That was the main difference between them. The regular 1000 (DS) '04-05 did not. There were some other differences like carbon bodywork and a fairing on the S

Thanks Darren,

What an arse I am - don't even know the model of the bike own... Still I previously owned 900SS's and Superlights and am new to Monsters.

The bike does have a steel swing arm so is a std Monster and is therefore a M1000ie?

I am the third owner. The bike was first owned by Ducati Aylesbury from Feb 04 to Nov 04 when they sold it to the second owner. Looking at the DA sales invoice it includes the high level Termi's that are currently fitted. I bought the bike in Feb 15 from Moto Forza.

As mentioned the bike has both a headlamp fairing and a belly pan. Possibly fitted by Ducati Aylesbury as extras?

Once again thanks for your help,

Cheers,

Paul

That would be my guess, that its just the base model 1000ie with the fairings added. There's another thread started today regarding 1000Sie and there aren't that many around.

You could always upgrade yours to the same spec as the 1000S using S4 parts, forks/rear shock linkage and swingarm should all be interchangeable i would think.

Maybe for the future but at present I am happy with the bike as it is.

My next project will be to sort out the crappy engine paint next winter!

I spotted some ST4/S4 forks on ebay starting at a very reasonable £75, might be worth a punt?

Not mine btw but they look to be in reasonable nick?

If you're dropping the engine to paint it, you might as well drop the forks too.
