M900 rear axle nuts

I'm thinking of replacing my rear axle nuts for something a bit more tarty, Titanium probably.

I assumed they would be M17x1.5, but I haven't measured them.
This is on a 2000 M900ie with 17mm axle.

I have seen M18 axle nuts listed but I've not found any M17 flanged nuts (except with a minimum order of 100!)

Anybody know of a supplier?

Have you tried Probolt? I just had a quick look but couldn't see any for M900 or 888/900ss

Thank you my friends for the replies... I should have qualified, "any suppliers" with, apart from Probolt or TPO, as I am far too snooty to patronise them.

As an example at the lower end of the scale, TPO want $4.99 for 4 number plate nuts and bolts... I got 10 of each including next day delivery for £1.90 from ebay.

When I've saved up my pennies I will get a pair of adjuster plates like Flip's, from MVP Performace. Going for 43.95 Euros at the moment. Unless anyone knows of a better price?

Gazza those rear plaes are a must for any monny I have them on my M750 and S4 , make chain tensioning much more accurate and dont look like bits of old bent scrap like the original ones

Yes I understand what you are saying about the likes of Probolt etc. there Mr G - but I got a discount for having an ACU licence along with a load of freebie 'points' for them using photos of my race bike and so took advantage of it while I could.

As for the MVS adjuster plates- yes they are good quality items and as Jerry mentions a lot more accurate for chain adjusting as there is less play in them. You will need to be careful of the size of the flange or washer you use as there is little margin- I can measure the diameter for you if need be?

Also, if your swing arm has the welded-on paddock stand bobbins as per the early bikes 888 style then it can cause a problem when using certain makes of stand.

I spoke to MVS with regard this when using the genuine Ducati 888/900 Monster stand (my bike was supplied with one when new) and despite me emailing photos from the parts catalogue and the part number of my stand to prove it they basically turned around and said I didn't know what I was talking about and go away!!!

I know what you mean about Probolt vs TPO. It was a lot cheaper for me to get the parts from Probolt which are supposed to be titanium (and they probably are) but I found that after using the correct socket that there were some big flakes that broke off and were left in the tool and I can only describe as cosmetic dressing. The nut underneath was dull but unmarked. TPO titanium has no coating and is polished so always looks good.

As for MVS they used to supply plates for all models regardless of model or swing arm type and I think for the 888 or early monster there were cut out versions available. I only dealt with them when they were Ceepeedee Racing but they are the same parts, but the customer service is less personal now I think.

If it's okay for guys to discuss their nuts on here? Then yes, I had seen how tight your flange was in the recess and had factored in a possible visit to my lathe owning mate to reduce my flange if needs be.
I am quietly confident that all will fit though, as these things should all be made to DIN specs... We shall see.

I'm not anticipating any probs with stands (though thanks for the heads up).
My paddock stand has rubber "L" pads that go under the arms. I spent some time this weekend, levelling up the stand with additional thin rubber pads on one side. So I can check the oil level more accurately.
I am looking forward to using a centre stand for this in the near future... :D

Yes Darren, you are correct in thinking that the early Monster/888 require a half moon type cut out to allow for the bobbin but it is the thickness of the plate that can cause a problem when the paddock stand 'arcs' round to lift the bike- if it's a little off centre it'll clout it.

A pair of Ti nuts arrived today, from Dukedesmo's link above.
The quality looks extremely good and I just have to take their word for it that they are Grade 5 Titanium as advertised. I'm not complaining about the price.

I had to chuckle though.. In the jiffy bag with the nuts was a little packet of Haribo jelly babies... So much for weight saving.. :chuckle:

I've got a couple of heavy bills coming up so I will order some MVS plates in a couple of weeks time and finish the job off.
