stupid question , (in the attached picture IGT ? steering damper under clock mount thing)

is there supposed to be a rubber washer between the v piece and the damper mount ?

its deliberately slackened off in the picture but when tightened up the damper falls forwards

ive had a go with one of the green engine case O-rings but then seems to be over tight

can someone measure the thickness of such an O-ring if there's even on present ?

If it's from the FG kit, I don't think so. There isn't one on my 1000, which is FG and flops around a bit but works fine. I have an S4 one in the garage somewhere, if no one answers I'll see if I can dig it out tomorrow and check.

Sorry for the delay Scotty, I kept forgetting to look. I can't find the S4 one I've got stashed away somewhere. The one on the 1000 does have a rubber washer, which doesn't seem to do anything and I suspect is a bit compressed hardened with age. It's 3.4mm thick.

It looks like there is a black o-ring on mine, but I can't remember and can't see properly without pulling it apart. But that's what it looks like there is. The damper unit moves around but returns to a position, it doesn't flop about. I'm pretty sure there's a green o-ring on the Hyperpro I have I my 748

Just use an 'O' ring, cheap and easily replaced if/when it gets squashed and loose.
