opinions?
not bothered about longevity as my bike is a toy basically
looking for recommendations for new boots for my bike?
I've come to the monster family from a KTM 660 supermoto so am after the same nimbleness/stickiness from the tyres
TIA

Try Michelin Pilot Power 2CT or Pirelli Diabolo Rosso Corsa for road use.
If you ride track with warmers Supercorsa or Dunlop D212 but you'll struggle to get them
up to temperature on the road.

I'm on my first couple hundred miles of a set of metzeler M7 RR's. They already feel excellent.

They typically last about 4.5k miles.

I get about 2K from a rear and 3.5-4K from the front with 2CTs on my 1000, maybe a little more now I'm not using it for commuting so it's mainly fast back-roads and the odd trackday

For Road Only I would go with The Metzler M7R, the new Pirelli Diablo Rosso 3 or for a bit more aggressiveness the Diablo Rosso Corsa. Personally I prefer the Rosso 3's to the DRC, as the profile is a bit sharper and more like a SuperCorsa.

A lot of the more road focussed tyres these days are plenty sticky, without the faff of having to really warm them up or the worry about keeping them that way. I'm running Michelin PR4s on my 696, which are built on the 2CT idea and have the added advantage that if the heavens open you're not going directly into the nearest hedge. Or at least if you do it shouldn't be for the lack of grip...

My thoughts exactly ... but I guess its a personal choice.
Either way, double compound rocks, cos it retains its profile much longer (longevity in this sense is mega important in my opinion, unless you're prepared to change rears after minimal mileage).
I run PR3s, cos they do most of what PR4s do, but are cheaper and therefore I can afford to change them earlier, for absolute maximum profile retention.

If cost is no object you won't go far wrong with Pirellis on a Ducati and the latest super sticky Rosso Corsas are good. as I have on mine, but if anything I would say they lacked enough tread to be good in the wet! Fine if you mostly do dry riding but the tread is like a cut slick!

Why not use the tyres that you liked on the KTM?

Many thanks for the replies,
I used Goldspeed (Maxxis) road legal wets on the ktm but not sure the extra weight of the 696 would affect them, their streetsport ultras look good though

Yes please. I'm sure they'll be perfectly grippy, but I'm interested to hear how they affect the handling, as I believe (but could be wrong) that the Rosso 3s have a slightly more 'sporty' profile. No 2CT on the front tyre, mind.

vouch for the michelins pr4 - have done 2k miles on them on my 696 and do well on road and do a good enough job the couple times i thrown her around the track
