Reservations for June at both ends of the trip are difficult to find and disappear very quickly, so please make your own booking at either or both the places below as soon as possible to ensure a place.

You can go via Booking.com and pay at check in, with free cancellation up to 24 hours before check in date (Wellington)
Or opt to pay at check in for the Premier Inn Lowestoft, with free cancellation up to 1pm on the day.

So there is a get out of jail free card if all goes terribly wrong.!

No one is interested in cooking breakfasts at 4 in the morning in Lowestoft, but the Premier Inn will provide a "Breakfast in a box" if required.. I will take my own light starter and make use of the kettle provided in the room.
Parking at the Inn is not "Secure" but the car park is secluded.

The Wellington is only a few minutes from Land's End and has breakfast included in the fee. Unfortunately parking is on a (free) public car park round the corner from the hotel.
I am assured by the receptionist that it is a nice quiet village and that the bikes will be fine there.

These are the best places I can find atm without moving the run to 2018..!

The Wellington is full. I confirmed that by telephone with them. I haven't tried The Commercial yet. It is the nearest. None of the B&B's I've written to are more than a 5 minute walk. I was more interested in parking security they have at this point.
Noted the family room to share with Utopia but may have a pillion so not making requests to share yet.

This has far exceeded my expectations as far as uptake is concerned.
I thought maybe 5 or 6 at Lowestoft, and maybe 8 or 10 making it the whole way.

I certainly intend to let everyone have a piece of paper with the final route plan and waypoints... and leading up to the date there might be a possibility of someone helping me out with a digital version of this that can be put onto sat-navs and other navigational aids.

This is quite unprecedented in terms of the sort of runs that the club has done before and also outside of my own experience in terms of scale... but it's the adventure into the unknown that appeals.. :D

I'm happy to take on board all ideas that come forward as the details evolve, and I think it will succeed as the sum of many peoples input, but I will have the final say on the final plan when the time comes.

Let's face it there is still an awful lot of work to do on this yet, not least the route !

As a member of a forum based club, it's a great thrill for me to see our forum being used precisely as it should be by definition... The exchange of ideas.

I can't do the whole run, but I would be happy to act as a marshall for a given waypoint in my area and then join in for a bit. If you need someone to research a suitable cafe in the Wiltshire/Somerset area, I would be happy to oblige :)
Might be an idea to have people available along the route who could help out in case of any mishaps or, ahem! breakdowns. Might be useful to be able to phone ahead to have the necessary items waiting.

So far we have got to waypoint 2, which is at Oxford Services on the M40.
I am looking to nail down waypoint 3, which should be in the region of 90 miles on, in the direction of Land's End. That would seem to fall into the area of Shepton Mallet, give or take, and also dependant on where the best roads take us.

The requirement for a waypoint is Petrol, quick food and drink and a toilet at the same stop.

I would be very grateful to you Maggsy if you could suggest something that fits the bill for waypoint 3, and better still 90 miles of nice road to connect to it.
Both Char and SteveG have been very helpful with route suggestions for that section, so if you could come up with a good route between you, I would be over the Moon.
