Afternoon everyone, the oil pressure switch on my 620 has packed up, it makes the low oil pressure light flicker at tickover when the engine is warm & is leaking like the Torri Canyon. After a look thru the various similar threads it is suggested that there is Vauxhall ones which will do the job. My question is, as the minimum system pressure is different (according to the Haynes rough guide) between the 620 & other models can anyone recommend a suitable (cheaper) replacement ?
Thanks guys

The vauxhall option did OK on the 750IE I had.

and according to an old "Ducati up north" thread http://www.ducati-upnorth.com/forum/showthread.php?7796-Oil-Pressure-switch&p=96794#post96794 the equivalent GM part is 90534902 and there's one on eBay for under £4 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370093171301 .

I've not tried it myself mind, but others seem to reckon it works ok.

The GM and (I think?) VW units are fine and as above can be had for around a tenth of the price of the Ducati part, just make sure it has the M10 x 1.0mm (fine) thread.

Whether the activating pressure is exactly the same doesn't really matter as in either case if the pressure really is that low then you have a problem - chances are the engine's already knackered by then anyway...

Thanks for the input guys, I'll have to make the decision whether to go OEM or alternative in a day or 2. I've also seen pressure sensors which give an analog output proportional to pressure and was thinking about fitting one to the blanked off oil cooler feed, plus some sort ov gauge (basically a volt meter calibrated in PSI or Bar) for continual monitoring. That'll have to wait till later in the year tho...

Well, you can get dedicated oil pressure gauges but I wouldn't bother, it's just something else to distract you. It's not like you can do anything about it on the road if it's wrong...

True, and the way my time just disappears it'll land up as a few diagrams... Lol
