Tail Tidy Monster 1100

Hello guys,

Can anyone recommend a tail tidy for my 2010 Monster 1100 please? Ideally one which includes indicators as the plastic connecting my back right indicator has snapped!

Also, has anyone on here had their clutch or brake lever bent to a right angle by vandals? I left my bike parked up in Clapham during the daytime only to come back to a bent clutch lever (no signs of the bike having been knocked over).

In my opinion you can't do much better than an Evotech tidy.

Their products are always excellent. I see that they list different part numbers for the 1100, 1100S and Evo so make sure you get the right one (although I'd have thought that they were all the same).

I think customer service is also very important and I posted here about that.

If you want a really minimalist tail, then Rizoma do a swingarm mounted Diavel-style one, but it's not to everyone's taste.

This might be done so you leave the bike longer, maybe overnight, and they have more time to nick it

Hi,
I looked at various tail tidys and finally settled for the Ducati Performance part. As one would expect it fits perfectly inc the seat lock arrangement, which can be hassle I've heard with other brands. I like the Ducati branded LED number plate light. I do have a 5 digit 'legal' number plate which is smaller than standard, and looks correct. Also I have Ducati Performance LED indicators so that the whole rear end is in proportion. No MOT issues.
This set up cost a bit more but I'm happy with the results. The only draw back is that when out in the rain you get a bit of spray up your back.

Why wouldn't it go through?
As long as the lights are visible from behind it shouldn't be an issue.

Just to confirm I was correct, I showed the pictures to the MOT tester at local Ducati dealer and the answer is No, he said that the indicators must be 30cm apart.

Yes I know what they say but I am sure even standard motorcycles don't comply quite correctly- tell me the difference other than one is obviously aftermarket but still quite obviously separated by the tail/brake light (unlike the integrated units fitted to earlier Monsters that still pass at most places btw) and the other is a standard VFR800.

My MoT place would definitely pass it but then they are sympathetic to motorcycles (they do all classes including HGV), think loud pipes make other road users on their mobiles, turning around shouting at their children in the back or straddling two lanes in stationary motorway traffic more aware of their presence. Pssst. if they know you they don't even worry about the 'letter box' small number plate on the back either but don't tell anyone. All they really worry about is the important things such as the bike (or any other vehicle) is mechanically safe and not a danger to the rider or anyone else :biggrin:

Incidentally, I just measured my indicators (which have never got me any unwanted attention, an MoT advisory or failure) and centre to centre (presuming that's how they are measured?) are 260mm so I'm guessing your MoT guy would fail it too if he measures them as part of his test?
