Went out to do the oil service on my 96 carb monster m900!!!!

Took it for a run to warm the oil, still cuts out with new plugs and fuel filter but the old ones were black and sooty, idles high!

Drained the oil ok
Loosened the oil screen cover and lo and behold no oil screen, on further investigation with a torch and bit of wire the oil screen was in the sump!

Managed to get it out after much swearing and more bits of bent coat hanger but it's in no condition to go back on, don't know if it was me or the previous owner! But I'm guessing it was the p.o.

Anyone got one or can advise on where to get one mail order! Used motorapido For the service parts including belts but the spare parts lists only go to 2001 on their website !!!!

As usual any help appreciated : )

Been looking on flea bay and wondered if it would be better to change to a different oil screen and cover a la 748?

some one has probaly overtightened the plastic screen holder and broken it standard one should be fine does not have to be very tight as the ally cap is the item that needs a little more effort .

As Jerry said, I think the standard oil strainer will fit; my old 2001 M900 ie and current 1100 Evo both use the same part:

894.2.009.1A

Craig and Luke at Moto Rapido 01962 873981 will sort you out.

Note that the crush washer (852.5.005.1A) has a flat face and a chamfered face; the flat face goes against the crankcase.

On my 1100 Evo, the torque for both the gauze filter and the plug is 42Nm.

Hope that helps...
