Luckily, I have my sprocket carrier in the kitchen.
Removing the circlip and cleaning off the surface rust with some wire wool, and using a magnifying glass, I think I read .... SKF 6005-2RS1/C2
Pretty sure its the original bearing.
I'm not at all sure about the last digit (2) though, but I'm confident about the others.
The bush/spacer that it fits on has a dia of 25mm.

There 1 or 2 fitted? Only ask as I'm sure I had 2 in my box of used bits and the carrier appears wide enough for 2 bearings

Tbh, I'm not entirely sure of what options are possible.
My bike has hoop type rear suspension btw.
Do you mean the spindle with a fixed head and just one nut ?
And is that 20mm dia ?
And were they fitted to the injection 750s ?
I would've liked to have fitted a different spindle (mainly to avoid having a nut at both ends) when I fitted the new wheels, but the new ally swinger had 17mm slots (same as my original, steel swinger and late type, 3 spoke wheels).
Maybe I could have opened the slots out to 20mm but I had limited time to properly check such a mod before the discount (effectively £700) on the wheels expired.

I had a 3-spoke wheel from a later model that I never used that had the larger 25mm setup however the hole in the wheel is the same, you simply need to fit the larger ID bearings and a new internal spacer.

Of course you'd then need to modify the swingarm, chain adjusters, brake caliper bracket and sprocket carrier but the wheels aren't holding you back.

Thanks for that, Tim.
As you imply, its a fair bit of work and the benefits are not huge but I think it would be my favourite option and so its good to know that I haven't burnt that particular bridge just yet.
