Evening all,

My 750 currently has a twin headlight set up, which I'm not really a fan of, so I'm looking to replace it with a standard looking headlight. I've seen a few pattern bits on eBay, but this SV650 light seems fairly reasonable.

It is a standard H4 bulb, no sidelight but that shouldn't really matter.

Any opinions or suggestions?

I have a brand new unused black headlight that I could sell you. I bought it to replace the headlight on my 1100evo with a traditional round one, but unfortunately my evo ceased to be before I had the chance to change the headlight. I know that it is the same as that which at least one other member here has on their Monster. I bought it based on their recommendation. It was mentioned in a post a year or two ago. If you're interested I'll take some photos and I'll try to find it on ebay being sold by the seller I bought it from.

Yeah photos of that would be good if you don't mind. I'm not in a massive rush, so don't worry about doing it right away. When you say black, does that mean no chrome edge?

I think this might be the unit that Suneye is talking about. http://www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/showthread.php?t=51604

Good call getting rid of the twin lamps...I can't imagine why anyone would want thier Monster to look like Deirdre from "On The Busses".

Just out of curiosity, is one lamp a dip and the other the high beam? Are they any good in the dark?

Personally I wouldn't want to be on a bike in the dark, that helmets in cars could mistakenly think was further away than it really was, due to the small size and close configuration.

Yeah I'd had a look at that thread - I think I prefer them with a chrome rim, but I'm open to persuasion... To be completely honest Gazza, after failing my first MOD 2 I've still not had the change to take it out in the dark! The previous owned says they're much improved over standard, but I'm not sure if one's dip and one main. I think they're both H4 but I'm not with the bike this week to check.

I had a naked SV650 once with that round headlight and it was really good, bright with an excellent light spread, much better than the monster one in my opinion.

I have yet to see a monster headlight that is any good in the dark, but 2 is surely better than 1

I won't be riding in the dark much - it's more for the aesthetics.

Suneye, if RossObey01 doesn't want it, PM me a price, I might take it off your hands.

Yes that is the headlight. I bought it on ebay from Project R. It cost £70.98 including postage. Happy to part with it for £55 including postage. The ones they have at the moment which look identical cost £164.99

If you want to improve the lights on your monster fit "Rally Spec" bulbs (Halfords sell them), strictly speaking "for off road use only", however you would need to be REALLY unlucky to get caught.

Makes a massive difference to night time riding.

High output bulbs can be useful, but only if you've got well designed reflectors and lens that complement them as uniformity is more important than brightness. They don't improve a bad headlight.

It's like street lighting where a bright light with dark intervals between is worse than a uniform dull glow as your eyes can't react quickly enough for the changes in lighting level.

Is it a steel bucket rather than plastic?
