After the great response for the trip to Duxford I thought I'd test the water for another Monster trip out to an Aviation Museum.
It got me thinking with so many things on our doorsteps that we never bother to visit that just up the road from me is what was RAF Tangmere made famous during the Battle of Britain by one of the Country's most well known pilots Sir Douglas Bader and later for the airfield that Squadron Leader Neville Duke took off from to achieve the World Air Speed Record off the Littlehampton and Rustington coast in 1953.
Well, I popped up there yesterday and had a good chat with a couple of the organisers of group visits etc. and what a lovely bunch of people they all are.
They basically said that they can cater for whatever we want depending upon numbers. We can have a guided tour around and then left to wander as people want after, there is a NAAFI providing food (but if there is a lot of us then some prior notice would be appreciated by them) and they can reserve parking for us in front of the planes for us to take photos of our bikes in front of the them (they'll happily remove the barriers too).
There is a discount for group bookings but at only £9.00 for adults it seems good value to me anyway and they say to allow at least two hours to look around so I guess you could easily add another hour to that to allow time for food and drinks to be had.
Also with the lovely roads around Goodwood, Midhurst and Petworth there is some good riding to be had either before or after the visit depending upon where most people travel from.
Post up any interest and I will move things along for a Monster day out.
