I find the banjo bolt pressure switch fine for the rear brake, but not so good on the front.

I have them on the rear of both my Monster and Guzzi due to no facility to (easily) fit a mechanical switch and they work great as you need a reasonable amount of pressure to get the rear brake working anyway, however I have one on the front of my 916 (because the master cylinder doesn't have a switch provision) and at low speed, gentle braking the switch doesn't always activate due to not requiring so much pressure to brake, so especially in traffic it often doesn't show a brakelight.

I've had as many people in cars pull along side, wind their window down to shout 'your brake light's not working mate' as they do 'one of your headlight's not working' (it's a 916 thing) or 'is there something wrong with it, it's making a funny noise' with reference to the clutch...

Not sure if you did finally get this sorted but the original replacements aren't expensive plus if you give Luke or Craig at Moto Rapido a call they'll happily knock 10% off for being a UKMOC member.
