Following Mr Gazzas suggestion of having a fish & chip run, who fancies a run to Southwold on the 16th of April?
The idea is to ride across country, meeting people on the way, with a couple of gathering points on route.
Whose interested?

Yes I am, I thought,as a first meet point, anyone interested who live over near St Neots we could meet at Caxton Gibbit services, at 9am, then a run cross country to Mildenhall ,meeting at Walkers Snacks off the 1065 for 10.30am. Leaving at 11am to head for Southwold the twisty route

Well, its a long run from Leicester for a bag of chips.
And the bike is currently dismembered and its parts strewn around the house and sheds.
And April could make for a chilly return ride.
But, despite all that .........

I'll see how the bike progresses in the next couple of weeks but if the stars align I'll be there.

Hi guys, as the run is looming up over the horizon, I thought an idea of the planned route would of use.

Caxton Gibbit services for 9am, traveling to Mildenhall via Dry Drayton, Oakington, Cottenham, Wilburton,Stretham, Ely, Littleport, Mildenhall.
The second meet point is Walkers Snack Bar on the A1065 Brandon Rd for 10.30.
After a coffee and chat we head for Southwold.
The next part of the run will be via Thetford, Diss, then on to Eye, Stradbrooke, Halesworth, finishing in Southwold down on the quay for some of the best fish and chips in East Anglia!
Anyone interested in joining in along the route is welcome, add your details and where you will be, so we can keep an eye out for you.

Let hope the crappy weather has cleared off by the 16th!

Hello chaps, I'm going to have to step out of this one after Edna's oil issue yesterday. I won't have time to get her into OMC for a look as to why the oil filter keeps working itself loose until I get back from Norway next month. :(

Have some pickled onions for me :(

...why the oil filter keeps working itself loose...

Put a big jubilee clip round the filter and then either lockwire it, or have the screw end pushed up against the engine so that it can't undo

Cobra88

I found genuine filters have too little compression on the filter seal. Seal is only just compressed when filter torqued correctly

Had 2 leak all over rear tyre.

Now use K&N 153 filter and no more problems.

Sorry to hear that Ursa....What a pain in the sump..!!

Hope you can get it clipped up for the run.

+1 for K&N filters. They even have a handy hex on the bottom, so you can get a spanner or socket on, but I did once round one of those off trying to get a filter off..No biggy, as I just screwdrivered it, but not so funny if it does it putting it on.

The hex has a hole in it too for lock wiring

OK folks, the weather is looking very iffy for tomorrow, so I am moving the chip run to next Saturday the 23rd.
Same MO, 2 meet points, one at Caxton Gibbet for 9am and ghetto other at Mildenhall for 10.30 am.
Anyone interested in joining in due to the change of date , are more than welcome.

Smart move Grumps...I hate it when the hail on my visor drowns out the sound of my clutch...See you on the 23rd.

Suits me nicely, cos I was going to have to miss it anyway, cos the bikes not back together yet.
Dunno whether the extra week will be long enough to finish it but I'll give it a good go.

Thanks for a fun day out guys.
The sound of the three 1200's all with open pipes was awesome on the way home!
Between the hail and the sun shine, add in fish and chips, I've had a blast. With the temperature reaching a bamy 12 degs, it was almost sunbathing weather!!!!
Great to finally put some faces to names as well.
Been home a couple of hours, warmed up (eventually)with a hot bath and meal.
Roll on the next run...how about Wells in June 👍

Mr Gazza
23-04-2016, 08:24 PM
Yep, I've warmed up now too....Mrs Gazza had a nice fire going when I got home......Had my little snooze and can feel my feet again.

Thanks for a great run Grumpy...Excellent route, great company, good to meet Mark and Mike. The trio of Twelve Hundreds looked and sounded good. But the old skool 750 and 900 managed to keep up okay.

I got in a muddle in Beccles and missed the turn for the old (twisty) road to Bungay!
So Dacs ended up going the main road home to Norwich....I hope you missed that big black cloud I saw to the East, mate...Looked like it was Norwich way?

I'd like to award this run 11 out of 10. But I'm afraid I have to deduct some points for the horrid hailstorm going into Thetford and also the general ambient temerature.
So I am giving Grumpy an Eight......:chuckle:

Yes Wells in June...anywhere in June..

Thanks for organising the run out today Grumpy.

I think the folk on Southwold High St appreciated the 'boom' of the bikes today as we tootled along, on our way down to the harbour :chuckle:

I too, have now warmed up thanks to a hot bath and a small dram.

Great to meet all of you, I had a blast (literally actually). Cant wait for the next one in June

9 out of 10 for me, I thought the hail was a novel addition, Beccles to home stayed dry, and checking the photo I took at Southwold there's a massive wheely bin behind the three 1200s

Thanks Grumpy for a grand day out.
