Hi All

Looking to get my stock clutch cover modified and would like it doing cleanly.

Want some holes round the edge and some kind of design or pattern cutting into the flat face.

Thanks

Ben

The cutting on the flat face would be possible on a 3D CNC router if the cover is alloy (or carbon). But a steel one would require a milling machine.

Results might be dissapointing on a steel cover, as I believe they are of twin wall constuction?

When it comes to the sloping sides of the cover, the tool needs to be angled, which changes the game a bit regarding CNC, as this is a much more sophisticated machine all together...I think that is called 4D.

If you can't do your own 3D CAD drawing of the pattern you want you will be paying someone else to do it.

It'd not going to be cheap for a one off...Personally I would be making some patterns to do it with a hand held router.....With the expectation of a high failure rate..!!

There are no end of designs available already ventilated at not too much money.

Cheaper to get a light alloy one with a design and colour you like IMHO. Steel ones will start rusting one cut open if not plated or painted well.

1200 I thought you were joking until clicked the link and realised you weren't :)

Bummer on the dual layer which messes things up a tad.

Buy yourself a lathe milling machine and do it yourself

you don't need CNC if you have enough time and patience

have been playing with my lathe making up a set of rear seats for a café racer I am building machining holes in a clutch cover isnt difficult

My garage is currently a ten inch deep hole with hardcore almost ready to be filled with rebar and concrete when finances allow ;)

Think this year I'm going to have to reside myself to riding a pink Speed Triple :(

Bridgeport mill and a dividing head and you away, any machine shop should be able to do it for you, but its gonna cost.

Give me a sketch of what you are thinking of and I will let you know if I can do it for you.

SPR drilled one of their carbon ones for me many years ago. But it was just round holes around the edges and a couple in the middle.

Yes I think that's what I'll go for in the end as it's nice and simple but I'd ideally like a nice neat job :)
