Hi All,

Just got one of these from this ebay seller in black;

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BLACK-Factory-Racing-Billet-Alloy-Clutch-Slave-Cylinder-for-Ducati-V-twins-/331703023365?hash=item4d3b0a7705:m:m8ChsewREoGjHBY ozwBzAyw

Price was dropped by a fiver so when ebay notified me I ordered one and it came 2 days later. Quality looks good and spares are available.

Thought I'd give everyone the heads-up

Ben

You got a good price on that, they normally reduce them to £45. They do make the clutch pull a lot lighter and smother but one thing with mine is the master cylinder only just pushes enough fluid to activate, that's with the lever span adjusted all the way out. A bigger master cylinder is on the wish list.

I've got remote reservoir master cylinders from a 900ss to go on my Monster so I'm hoping I don't suffer the same issue.

If you seem to need a bigger master cylinder , that kind of tells me the slave cylinder has too big a dia.
Going bigger on master cyl dia negates the hydraulic advantage ,so you end up back where you started on clutch pull .
Just saying .

Mark on here showed me a trick with washers under the spring holders that reduces clutch pull very effectively :)

I didn't have a clutch cylinder at all before so now I've got one more thing off my enormous shopping list :):)

Thanks for the heads up on that, I just bought a gold one.

That was my initial thought Drum that there was a slight mismatch, it works fine and its very light. I have the goldline masters on mine but the early (916) type which are wrong for the bike as it should have the later 996 type and I'm not sure but I recall reading somewhere that the size went from 12mm to 13mm on the later ones which may account for it. Plus I have the DP slipper which is a bit different to the standard clucth pack anyway, it also has more plates.

You may find that it works fine for you if you are going for a standard clutch setup and I can't imagine they would be so popularwith the aforementioned models if they had a major design flaw.

Anyway I have a spare standard slave off mine if you find you can't get on with it. As one of my other rides is a Laverda triple I can cope with most clutches anway, however heavy but i do find its much better than standard and much less tiring, especially in traffic. The Mirage is murder after a while in that respect.

I don't tend to use the clutch that much anyway when on the go, the slipper sorts out any ham fisted changes although I do have enough mechanical sympathy to use it a bit for down changing!

Avanti Race parts have an interesting article regarding Ducati clutches and the effects the various aftermarket slave cylinders have on action and lever pull force to lever distance ratios.

I confess I do have a nice shiny gold one made by Oberon courtesy of Maxjod from here but really only for the bling factor.

I don't really feel it made much difference to the pull force or the lever travel on my '97 900 (had to use the little spacer to effectively increase the rod length) and if you are really struggling then I would suggest one of these might help

Yes I think you will notice a much lighter pull on the later bikes (1999/2000-on?) as the heavy clutch 'problem' was already being addressed by Ducati fitting a 1mm SMALLER diameter master cylinder (the ones with separate fluid reservoirs?) but it is when the slave cylinder is also increased in diameter that it can cause problems- how many people complain their bike won't go into neutral at stand still?

You mean Ducati fitted a smaller diameter master cylinder?

Glad to see some folk have taken advantage of this low price - I should have charged the guy some kind of commision!
