View Full Version : Does anyone have pics of tail tidy for new style monsters ?

I'm trying to fit led indicators from a panigale to my old style monster.
These are basically the same, and have the same fitment, as those on the new style monsters, but use leds instead of bulbs.
I quite like the flexible std fitment where the rubber stalk is held between two halves of plastic bodywork, rather than a solid, bolted-up attachment with less flexibility.
Ideally I would like to mimic this, either by adapting a tail tidy which uses a similar system or (more likely) by incorporating their design for how to hold the indicators in my own design in sheet ally.
So I'm interested in seeing exactly how the indicators are held in aftermarket tail tidies.
Does anyone have any pics which show this detail ?

Can try again in the daylight if need be.

Its a simple design though, just a 90* bend in the metal with a hole. The indicator wires go through the hole, the mounting screw goes through and holds the indicator to the bracket. Requires the rubber part to be removed to mount. I've been trying to figure out how to get that part integrated back into the tail tidy kit.

Ah, BRB ... worked it out eventually.
Thanks.
One more question if I may, because its hard to tell for certain from the pics ....
Do the rubber stalks of the indicators simply push into suitably shaped holes in the tidy, being retained merely by the groove in the rubber (if you see what I mean ...?) or is there any bolted fastening for greater security.
I'm kinda hoping that its the former ..... and also that this does in fact hold the indicators adequately.
If that is the case, then I can go ahead with making my own set-up in 3mm ally sheet or somesuch.

Ah ... posted this before reading your last post.
Did you have to remove the rubber parts then (and leave them removed, that is) ?

Sorry was still trying to post pics. Put one more on which might clear it up a bit. Yes the rubber is permanently removed. The hard plastic part of the stalk and a supplied metal retainer clip sandwich the mount using the hex screw which is reused from the original indicator stalk.

That would have been a much better design and kind of what I was thinking to try and modify to. That way the indicator could bend and pop off instead of break off if weight was accidentally put on it.

Yes, exactly.
That is essentially the reason for my query.

And I can see it more clearly now.
I'll let you know if I come up with anything that you could adapt for your bike.

I was looking at this Evotech tail tidy for the 696.

The holes for the indicators looked like they may be intended to take the rubbers on the indicator stalks, being just pushed into those holes.
Thought I might be hoping for rather a lot though, and it seems from further googling that this one also requires the rubbers to be removed.

Mine is the Evotech for the 1100, doubt its any different. I'll unmount one tomorrow to double check but if I remember correctly that's the shape of the holes. Just big enough for the electrical connector to pass through. The supplied instructions weren't very good so I tried fitting the rubber into it like you propose to do. Simply wouldn't work so I googled and you tubed it and sure enough the "correct" way is without the rubber. Other than that oversight they make a great product.

Yes, it is kinda intuitive to think that way when you first see the shape of the holes.
I did too.

The Evotech for the 1100 evo is different, as the exhaust valve motor takes up room in the tail unit, so the Evotech tail tidy from the 696/796/1100 will not fit.
